    PC Automatically resets?

So at first i thought maybe it was because i was trying DX11 out for the first time but when I switched back to DX9 it was still there. The occurrence of the resets are quite random. Sometimes I am just inside a Trial before even we spawn the first set of Adds (Bismarck EX) then it will restart on me. Sometimes it would be near the end of a Burden of the Father run maybe 1/2 through the opressor. And sometimes it would be from plain switching tabs from FFXIV to the browser/desktop. I also tried seeing if the computer was overheating but it wasn't and I don't know why it would because I got to play the Steam Trial plus finish all the MSQs from 2.0-3.0 and was doing the usual changing tabs from FFXIV to desktop without this problem.

Oh and if anyone is curious I'm using an R7 260x and an i3-4160.

I'm starting to think the PSU is getting faulty since I started playing when HW came out then around mid-end of July this problem just started popping out of nowhere.

Your not the only one with this issue and while I can't help you as I am suffering from the same issue at least you can know your not alone and its unlikely your hardware. Much of the time it seems attributed to DX11 or else graphic driver crashes which effect DX9 as well with FFXIV:ARR. The common denominator seems to be from what I have seen those with OC graphics cards (usually factory OC ones).

For me I get this issue as well which most often happens when in a duty be it a trial, dungeon, and such but can happen other times. When run DX11 it seems more common. At times I can go days without a single crash playing most of the entire day even and other times will crash 5 times in one day. Computer just goes black, have some wierd static noise, and only way to fix is a hard restart. Crash logs either point to DX11 or the driver if its DX9 and it could happen on an ATI or a NVidia card.

My setup is a i4790 and a GeForce 970OC and all my parts are high end.

I had my first (that I can recall) reset of Heavensward last night and I have a very, very stable system so it was a shock. I even wondered if I'd had a momentary power cut (I hadn't). Complete system shutdown as if it had overheated but my system is heavily monitored (ROG kit) and temperatures were very low compared to most people.

I have no idea what causes it. I was just in Foundation after doing some random stuff and was about to change gear and "poof!".

I used to have the same problems (random resets) and it turned out it was my 6-year old power supply failing. Replaced it with a new one, problem stopped straight away. Hard to confirm without another power supply, but I agree it might be the same problem for you.

Though I am still wondering why this problem only occurs when I have FFXIV open and not when I am just idling or using just firefox. I have yet to test playing other games since I tried reformatting but it still failed.

Try running 3DMark benchmark a couple times over or anything else. If that doesn't crash as well which likely won't it won't be a hardware issue. I have NO issue with anything else including far more intensive games. Its a FFXIV issue.

FFXIV stresses the system in different ways than most other games. It isn't optimized very well and hammers the crap out of everything at once. Not uncommon to see systems become unstable due to voltage dips in a subsystem, or heat spikes, etc.

If you have one of those OC, Special Edition, Turbo type cards---may want to go in to their utility and reduce the overclocks and such. It's a fairly common culprit. Running the card's components faster than the reference design ramps up the power draw and can have strange effects when the system is under high loads elsewhere like with this game. Likewise, if you've overclocked the CPU or Memory you may want to try reducing them to standard speeds and test that angle too. You may also want to disable all unnecessary devices as well--remove extra USB devices, disable the webcam, etc. If it is drawing power from the system it may be contributing to the problem.

Yup, I've used burn-in programs, 3DMark, FurMark etc and the problem is FFXIV specific. I've done 3D rendering and everything I can to get everything running at 100% for days on end without a crash...

I've had my heavily tweaked pc prime95 stable for over 24 hours and it would still reset on me sometimes...always had to notch back FSB and GPU/VRAM clocks just a touch when the seasons changed to stabilize it for the game.

Synthetic benchmarks are just that....synthetic. Real-time playing in this game is a different animal.

My GF and I play with the same router, however she's using Wifi and I'm Wired.

I never got the problem on my Windows PC, but yesterday she constantly got kicked out to the main screen having to log again. She plays on a MAC air pro with a Windows 7 OEM installed. (yes it's dang slow, I see her jogging when she hits the sprint button lol)

Nevertheless, I got her a new HP Omen (she'll receive it in a few days.)

Still, hopefully up to this time, she won't get the same problems, cause the loading pages are freaking long when teleporting, and getting in the game.

    Hope it will be addressed.
