My second in command has been absent for 8 days and counting now. It is indeed a lonely place... The gear is coming slowly. I'm not anywhere near the ilvl requirement for Alexander yet.

Party finder is used on this server, I do wish it was used more. And I am not attacking you Aero or anything, but Coeurl is a small server. Very small, compared to what it used to be during 2.0 launch and up to second coil.
People can blame the elitism. But there are other things that have led to this. Everything is debatable no one will ever agree on exactly the same things. One of the factors being most statics do the new content together.
Its part of cohesion and teamwork, there are pros and cons, such as the patience of dealing with a pug who wants to learn the fight.
However, as Herri/S'reth has explained, having a network of friends, LS's, and withing your FC then co-ordinating with them a good time to
gather and focus on the content you need. (Alot of passing content doesn't really come from PF's these days, though sometimes it happens).
TL;DR
Yes, PF is used just not* used enough on this server.

That's kind of untrue. There definitely are people who are only tolerated because of their personal skill. I'm not going to fling shit and name names, but I can think of at least 5 offhand who I have personally witnessed deal with others in a rude manor or use e-peen waving "I've cleared T13 so I know better" arguments. They aren't the all-pervasive boogeymen some people make them out to be, but writing it off as non-existent doesn't do anything to help the situation.
And I don't feel like "they're friendly when you're friends with them" is a valid argument. That's true of pretty much everyone. Disposition towards out-groups and strangers is a much better metric when it comes to testing elitism. It's true that a large majority of Coeurl's endgame population doesn't do a lot of interaction with those outside of that circle (I'm certainly guilty of it myself). However, most are not openly hostile/aggressive/critical towards others, which I believe doesn't place them into the category of "elitist trolls."
Ffxiv is my first mmo and courel has a special place in my heart why I maid an alt here but coming back I struggle to find people to do stuff with given I am 4 weeks behind so it's understandable. I want courel to be a great place again just not sure how to help when it appears noone ever does anything through pf.
