...tanks are one of the strongest PvP group of classes. There's a reason there's so many tanks in PvP. Not that the three might be equal in all ways but they don't need buffs.

I've also seen living dead used effectively. Charge into an enemy zerg and deny them cap with the aoe spam (bonus points for benediction just as they run out).

PVP's flagging of characters as in combat could be reworked as a whole. Not sure exactly how it's done but it does seem to linger...

The funnier thing is most players don't register "get off the death-sentenced player" and continue to beat the proverbial dead horse.

That's DRK's biggest strength; tomelith defending. They spam their AoE to keep people from interacting with it and then pop Living Dead to spam for 10 more seconds.

Or you somehow still die instantly even with Walking Dead up, or before the debuff even expires.

    Happens alllll the time.

Dark Knights are the single most annoying point defenders in Seize. With their instant cast, reusable AoE, they can keep people from capping/uncapping for a good long while. A lot of DPS have AoE options as well, but they tend to go down quickly. Paladin and Warrior can last longer, but their AoE abilities pale in comparison. Dark Knight is the only class that can consistently harass cappers while staying alive long enough to protect the point.

This is the one positive thing I've seen about DRK, at least in Seize. As mentioned Living Dead is pretty bad.
In Borderlands it seems like DRK are completely useless. Here you might as well play any other melee class, tank or even DPS...
I have not come across a DRK in Wolves' Den yet.

I've played some DRK in both the level 50 Frontlines matches and the level 30 Wolves' Den, as well as only once so far in Seal Rock. So far, I thoroughly enjoy it. My only problem with DRK in PvP is, as others have mentioned, Darkside's PvP drain while nowhere near any form of combat simply due to the fact that I was in combat at some point in the past 5 minutes.

I didn't do too well in my first level 60 Seal Rock match...but, then, none of my team did. We lost as 3'rd place with only 250 points. Despite my terrible performance that match, I still managed to tie for top damage on my Alliance - I died more than the other guy who tied with me, though. All in all, considering it was just a bad match altogether and that it occurred at midnight EDT, I found my first attempt at level 60 DRK PvP acceptable.

On the other hand, my experiences with DRK at level 50 and 30 have been drastically different. My performance in Slaughter was moderate at best (only got into one of these, anyway), but my performance in the 6 or so Secure games I played was great - topping damage, low death count, usually defending or assaulting bases. I managed to do well against just one target as well as against multiple, with and without the rest of my team around. It's good stuff.

For my level 30 Wolves' Den experience as DRK... I've only played a handful, but I've not lost a single one. My damage potential as DRK, even at that level, is truly amazing. Out of the 3 or 4 matches I've done, I was consistently the highest damage for each match by a large margin, and I was always the one to score the healer kill - sometimes by myself. I'm not even twinked out for level 30 Wolves' Den anymore like I used to be...though it's something I'm considering doing once again.

I was looking forward to DRK in PVP for a long time, so hyped.. First day of Seize patch I went a whole 3 matches as DRK..

then switched back to DRG/PLD and never looked back.

There's a whole bunch of issues either relating to MP management or burst potential.. too much micro for inferior results.. Blood Price / Blood Weapon have limited use outside of scripted PVE. Push Back is a shared CD, not DRK specific. AOE PVP actions are not ideal, no utility like PLD, no Holmgang / Hallowed Ground.. As much as I don't like saying it,

DRK is not a PVP friendly design. You'd do better with any other tank or melee DPS. Any impressive results you get you probably would have gotten even better rolling a different job.

I'd love to see a DRK or 2 prove me wrong - that'd persuade me to try the class out again. But so far, all DRK encounters have been nothing impressive. Just save your defensive CDs for that C&S, but even then that's a weak burst if they don't have MP to follow up with other high potency abilities..

I main NIN, and have since it was released. In Seal Rock so far, I've done almost as well in end-game score boards playing my DRK as I have while playing my NIN. Generally, on either Job, I tend to tie with another melee for top melee damage in my GC, outdamaging just about everything in some games if you ignore SMNs, and tend to at least break even on kills:deaths. I feel like the class is harder to play properly in PvP than NIN, sure, but I certainly don't feel like it's holding me back. And this is while I'm still trying to adapt to the ins and outs of DRK PvP.

I don't feel like the class is a letdown in PvP at all.

    Also...

Our AoE PvP action as DRK are amazing. I don't get all the hate (not just what you said, but others who truly hate them). Both of them do fair damage, are on a fair CD (for PvP abilities), and have devastating additional effects. I'll bet you that if Tar Pit were instead a single-target weaponskill that did the same thing - applied Heavy, did 180 Potency in damage, healed for 40% of the damage it dealt - it would be being praised as one of the best PvP actions. The same applies to Carnal Chill.

Thing is, just because it's an AoE doesn't mean you need to only use it in AoE situations. I frequently use Tar Pit and Carnal Chill in 1v1 situations for their damage and effects, and they can turn the tide of a chase or a bad fight. The capability of those skills to hit other nearby targets aside from my main target? That's just a nice bonus on top of already great skills.
