I don't recall him saying anything about wanting to off himself or anything. He just said he's really bummed. o_O Also, maybe he works 80 hours a week and he just didn't have the time to cap esoterics, and the early maintenance cut into that last bit of time he had to play. You're making some pretty dramatic assumptions about him based on a forum post that doesn't reveal enough information for you to know that he's just lazy and waits until the last minute to cap tomes. I really don't understand why people are so hostile here about everything.
There's absolutely no hostility at all; it's just logical assessment. You are bringing emotions into this but it's simply looking at the facts. You have more than 160 hours to cap Esoterics. At the most basic casual-level it can be done in "30 minutes a day." Through whatever circumstances the OP decided to cap at the very last possible minute; even though maintenance messages have bombarded us for the last 24 hours.
It doesn't matter if the person heavily procrastinated, completely forgot about capping, or worked for 80 hours. One simple dungeon a day caps your Esoterics. There's absolutely no reason to feel pity for someone unable to accomplish this; especially when it tried to be done at the very last minute. It's logical to say that anyone who can't sign into FFXIV for three hours a week to cap their Esoterics are either extremely lazy with Esoteric farming, or simply don't have the time for one of the most casual MMO systems in existence (Esoteric Capping.)
In either case, if the OP is THIS heartbroken (re: over-dramatic 'bummed out' sentences begging for GM's reimbursement) about capping Esoterics then they need to procrastinate less or make a lifestyle change that allows them at least three hours a week of game time.

Yeah, someone doesn't know how to read venn diagrams. Go be offended somewhere else /rolls eyes
What's funny is it's even less than 30 minutes a day, since you can cap out with a single Expert roulette for 6 days. You can essentially take a day off and still cap. There's absolutely no hostility at all; it's just logical assessment. You are bringing emotions into this but it's simply looking at the facts. Gonna hear the chime of "red scrip" change lol.
And most neighborhoods here on Excalibur are effing *empty* outside the bounds of large FC mansions. In our ward, there's maybe 2 people at the market board and I never see anyone at any of the houses.
No point in them when they're bloody empty.
In my opinion, calling someone names is being hostile. Calling someone lazy is calling someone names. From Google:
"hos·tile
ˈhästl,ˈhäˌstīl
adjective
unfriendly; antagonistic."
Emotions have nothing to do with it. I don't know him or you and was just making an observation. I didn't agree with someone going AMG FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS and responded to a thread I'd normally just read, roll my eyes and forget ten minutes later.
Of course he could have budgeted his time differently and capped without much effort, but that doesn't automatically make him lazy. Given that he managed to cap tomes the previous two weeks (or he wouldn't have been able to purchase the items he was going for tomorrow anyway), we can only "logically" draw the conclusion that he wrongly assumed that maintenance would take place at the same time this week as it has the past several weeks. I don't 'pity' him for this, but I also don't see any reason to come in here and call him lazy.
Anyway, carry on with your "Like" fishing.
/shrug
There's no doubt that SE could have put more thought into the housing system, but it is what it is.
For some people, like me when I was working at another place. A maintenance the same time every time, meant that I couldn't play during that day. So maintenance = one missed day of playing.
Now something screws up for you once and you feel like you have to make a forum post about it?
I mean yeah it sucks that you have to wait another week to get that awesome looking gear, but this is a one time thing that happened to you, while some of us had an issue EVERY maintenance. 3 maintenances in a week = no time to cap that week
