    Concerning Transpose (possible bug?)

Me and my fiancé who mains BLM were testing this earlier with a friend regarding the double flare and why she doesn't use it to find something peculiar.

In short, her rotation of Flare > Convert > swiftcast > Flare > Transpose means she waits 2-3 second for the MP tick of transpose which she sees as an important DPS loss.

Now the strange part is that when our friend did this same rotation her MP regen was instant with no waiting time on tick.

What exactly could be causing this difference and which one is correct? We tested this for an hour with different combinations such as dropping swiftcast but the results were always the same, she waited seconds for the pm but our friend did not.

Now my fiancé is on PS3 and our friend is PC, all three of us are on Odin and were in the UK while our friend is in Australia so I'm doubting a latency issue.

Any input on this would helpful.

Pure and simple, timing. If you transpose just before a tick, it is instant, if just after a tick then you have a 3 second wait for the next one.

In FFXIV, anything with an effect over time happens on the server's 'tick.' This 'tick' occurs once every 3 seconds, so every 3 seconds is when you'll see your natural HP and MP regen, DOTs, HOTs...etc.

BLM doesn't have natural MP regen in Astral Fire, so it's hard to gauge exactly when you'll get mana back after Transposing. If you use Transpose right before the tick, consider yourself lucky because you won't be waiting very long for the regen to hit. If you use Transpose right after the tick, you're going to have to wait the full 3 seconds to get mana back.

Another side note, when you transpose you can potentially stay in Astral Fire and mess up your rotation even more.

I've had this happen to me, I just assume its lag related, but it is annoying to hit transpose, have the effect go off, but no change from astral fire to ice

This. I think this happens sometimes if you hit Transpose too fast after Flare. Flare gives a refresh of Astral Fire so if the system registers Transpose on your existing AF, then the refresh from Flare happens, you get no Umbral Ice while Transpose is now on cooldown.

    Temp fix: bring ethers.
