So what is the current best way to make gil?

I am willing to invest into a crafting discipline if necessary, but at present I am irked that I can't buy the thavinarian gear that I think would look fantastic on me.

So what is the best way to make it / would leatherworking (or whatever makes thavinarian gear) be the better way to go?

Leatherworker and Weaver for the entire set parts, but that also entails getting to like 56, earning scrips from "HQ" crafting collectables and trading for a book, If I recall. I have yet to invest in the scrips part myself. Or wait till the prices drop with how fast the thav materials are dropping in price, the finished product won't be too far behind.

Realistically, you'll need to level all disciplines for those nice cross class skills. It's more important on DoH than DoW/M a lot of the time.

If you just want to make gil... GSM has yet to fail me.

Hm, all of a sudden I regret not looking more into crafting disciplines because I admit I don't know much of the topics of scrips, collectables or the books.

But I do agree 100% with the observation that the prices ARE tanking significantly. Which makes me curious if it'd be better to just outright farm/I don't even know ... to obtain the gil to buy the finished items.

A lot of people are making decent money on mining in my FC. It seems to be less set up time for compared to craft selling.

There is also the gathering classes like Miner and Botanist since mats are in very high demand now with 3.0 still being young.

Also using the retainers to gather the right mats can give you a good amount of gil each day by selling those mats to other players.

This happens every single patch. Those with no understanding of economics will rant about undercutters, but really what's happening is supply is stabilizing in a new market.

That said, if you're really into crafting... you can make a lot of gil by being among the first to get the new recipes and sell them. (I'm too lazy to do that, personally)

Honestly, if you like you could always try buying the Dragonskin Maps if you don't have a level 56 miner/botanist, farm and hope you get the thavarian materials then find a trust worthy crafter to make it for you. Least on Coeurl maps are about 70k now last I checked. This being if your looking JUST for the thavarian items and not to make money of course xD

Yeah, the maps are great now that they're cheap. The materials that drop are often worth more than the map itself. I two-man them with a tank friend and our two chocobos.
