NIN or MNK.im losing faith is MNK....

    hi,
my main is a monk and after trying many class i always come back to monk but since the new expension,i start to think about rerolling.why?

chakra system is annoying.....spamming meditatuon 5 time between each fight is just not fun especialy since you also need to form change.....that 8 skill to use between each fight....in the Q/A,yoshida answer about that and he have no plan to change meditation even when EVERYONE want meditation to give instant 5 stack out of combat....so we need to deal with it and spamm those skill forever.

the ramp up is something i dislike also.with form change, its a bit faster to get 3 GL stack but its still around 15 sec to start doing good dmg. boss that keep jumping out become a real pain because of that.you ramp up and hop....he jump away.....most enconter is like that now

overall,i was thinking about rerolling ninja since its a fast paced class like monk and you dont have any ramp up,you have nice burst, about equal dps then monk, way less positioning then monk (so better for solo) but you lose in the aoe dmg compared to monk.i feel like ninja is equal to monk without all the downside....am i wrong?i never played ninja yet so that why im asking here your opinion.

As a ninja, let me tell you all the pros and cons if you end up switching from monk from my experience.

    Pros:
    -Fast paced
    -Fun playstyle
    -Great utility

    Cons:
-Less DPS than monk and SIGNIFICANTLY less than Dragoon
    -Mudra lag
    -Skill speed on Gear
    -TP issues
    -Terrible AoE dps
-Not as easy to pick up and learn because of mudras
    -Requires good internet

LoL I started leveling Ninja pretty much due to that very same reason , I couldn't stand spamming chakra all the time and losing GL3 gets frustrating even with the new TK.

So far i'm liking Ninja more , Less stress during mechanics , Positionals are simple , Armor crush every 4th or 5th rotation means perma Huton and the Dps is good ( more so when you have to solo something ) , I've had a mudra brain fart now and then but nothing that pisses me off like getting stunned and losing GL stacks or running around spamming chakra or worse forgetting to recharge it as your dodging AoE's or dealing with other things. That and form shift is annoying and is too limited .. Would much rather it just put you directly into coeurl form without having to press it multiple times.

Honestly I feel a bit depressed about both as someone who played both heavily in 2.0

Monk is just flat out identical to 2.0 version. I loved monk for so long but after doing same rotation for a year it gets repetetive. I wanted something new, not simple "stuff I can do when boss is transitioning".

Unfortunately NIN falls under this trap once your hit around 60. Leveling NIN from 50-60 its quite fun. You get a lot of new skills that all incorperate into your rotation and Armor Crush changes rotation a lot. For me though I completely got use to Armor Crush by time I hit 60 and overall NIN rotation started feeling the same as 2.0 just with some bells and whistles.

As for players who never touched these jobs, I highly recommend you giving both a try. Both are fun and enjoyable.

I mained MNK from 2nd coil onward. Finally switched to DRG.

Really used to love monk, loved the playstyle. Possitionals. How you approuch fights differently to every other class in terms of dealing with mechanics.

Chakra is just so boring. It sucks the life out of the class. Makes playing it a chore rather than fun. Furthing most fights give you very little use of your new abilitys. Purification is just pointless. Chakra "yawn" tornado kick..meh..

Switched to DRG as the new skills are fun. Add complexity to the job. Some nice buffs to dps and raid utilities. Only downside is everyone and their mom is a bloody DRG haha.

I've not played ninjas past 50 but I think that's your best bet. I feel the pain. MNKS just a pain and boring now.

Your other option would be to level a different class for all other content and use MNK sparingly for end game exclusively. At least you can enjoy the class still but not wear yourself out over the poxy chakra spam?

The reason everyone is a Drg is because they're currently the strongest does in the game. Great burst, good sustained damage and party buffs. Can't get better than that.

Indeed they are, trying to find ravana ex party's without a DRG in it is like looking for a unicorn in the sky... Just... Does't.... Exist.. haha but this isn't the point of the thread. JUST stating an example of why I switched from MNK.

But yea. Definitely feel that monk really has become a pain to play. I'd say at least give NIN a shot. At the very least you'll end up with a class better suited for soloing content =3

While I haven't leveled my ninja from 50 yet, I will agree Ninja is a bit easier to play than the other melee, imo. The biggest worry right now is trying to fit mudras in between gcds without clipping because Huton + all the skill speed on gear makes it difficult.

That's probably the best thing you can do, dont want to hold up your team! Who knows you might end up enjoying it again, i must admit whenever i use MNK for Ravana Ex Or Normal Alex I enjoy it. (because low and behold i only have to do the boring spam once before pull and every now and again in down time) but outside of that i detest it with a flaming passion.

Its rather doubtful being as Yoshi's Response (which tbh i think was rather uncalled for being as its a quality of life change and nothing more when you look at DRG and they get them every patch) But we can hope ey!
