Culinarian and Alchemy are the only money makers right now, the rest of them are only good for making gear for crafters and gatherers...what's the point of being a master weaver (which has always been my favorite craft), if my only purpose is to sell gear to other people so they can be master weavers? Eventually I'll have no one to sell to.

Yoshi P - Consider Crafted Gear with Raid Special Materials!

    (Great post OP, totally agree.)

To: Yoshi P & the Dev Team,

Somewhere along the way (right before 2.0), you made the awful decision to have Crafters be relegated to WORTHLESS Glamour Gear, or inferior gear to Dungeons / Raids. Always.

Somehow you thought that people wouldn't try your End Game Raids if there was actually good Crafted Gear?

There is something called CHOICE. And many ways to resolve that concern of yours. Some options:

    1. Create End Game Level Crafted Gear Sets (SAME iLevel as highest Raid), but it requires a Rare Material Drop from the End Game Raids.

Your older Final Fantasy game did this very well (there were Abjurations that dropped in End Game Raids / Bosses and you used those along with rare Mats to have a Crafter create CURSED GEAR that you could UNCURSE).

It also made End Game Raids more enjoyable, because besides an actual Armor / Weapon dropping you might get a Rare Material (very valuable and meaningful) instead and it made the run still worth it. This connected Adventurers & Crafters in a great way.

    2. Consider having more meaningful Stats so we get MORE Gear Sets (Same Item Level), so it's not just your boring Vertical Progression you have now (always just the same old +VIT and +[Main Stat] for every single new Item Level increase BORING).

Example Tank Sets (All Same Item Level)

    * High Defense / VIT Set
    * High Attack & Low Defense Set
    * High Block / Parry Set (if Block and Parry were really scaling right)
    * +X% Counterattack
    * "Enhances Rampart" ("Enhances [XYZ] Ability / Spell" etc.)

There are so many interesting stats and Materia ideas that can be used from previous Final Fantasy games.

ALL of this would go a long way to getting Crafting to be more *meaningful*.

Please reconsider having Crafting mean something again, and NOT just be a Glamour, Furniture, Minion-making waste of time.

    Thanks!

    This.
But instead of how kirimu/wootz/arachne gear were crafted with mats from first coil and then used in final coil to make it obsolete, how about having that gear only last through the current content?
To put things into perspective: getting mats from savage that would be used to craft i210 gear that couldn't be capped with materia (and instead could only be made equivalent or have more optimal secondary stats as the dropped gear from there). This way, sure, the gear might be better when you finally melded it out (i135 zeta vs dreadwyrm vs augmented ironworks anyone?), but that would mean that you're able to actually beat that content first (or buy it from raiding groups that don't care for the mats?)

It would seem se regret the past, especially with regards to fcob beaten in a week due to crafted gearing making those dps checks possible. With alexander still unbeaten, if even for no other reason than people didn't have the gear for it, than it reflects better on se. "at least endgame raid wasn't beaten in one week this time" etc etc. Both se and raiders are happy with this. And everyone knows WHY it is like this.

And yet here crafters are, crying because they can't rip off raiders anymore. I am overjoyed that I wont be lining some crafters pockets with the small few millions that I have this round of raids. I hope it stays like this, se finally learning.

I guess crafters felt powerful or swag or something seeing their names written on our gears, well guess what guys, no more

Crafting and Raiding should always be connected and reliant on each other. You can disagree if you like, but thats just bad game design.

Crafting in this game was designed to be optional from the start. Granted they sort of...expanded on that a bit much, but it's always been optional. The only people who found it necessary were the people who are already capable of clearing end-game without it.

    As they've proven already.

Yes. I craft myself 100 dex pots every now and again and some food. It's enough.

@whoever: Keep making yourself look butthurt that no1 needs your junk anymore .

keep thinking im a "hater" because I don't wanna spend 10m for crafted equips. People are really gonna listen.

Crafters that cant gather stuff on their own have to buy the favor materials for millions of gil. On my server ooids etc are sold between 100k and 200k, you need 20 of those for one 2star crafting material, most items require 3-4 of them, so thats 60-80 times 100k =6-8million gil for the favor mats at the very least, a more likely price is 10-12m, thats not including the prices for other mats like aethersand, demimateria, the lvl 60 items they have to turn in for red scrips or the risk to craft a NQ item which is pretty much worthless. Considering all this, prices between 15m and 20m for 1 armor part/weapon are reasonable. But who will buy the ilvl 180 crafted gear, the casual that doesnt have time to raid or get his weekly tome cap with <100k gil on his bank account? I understand they dont want crafted gear to mess with raid progression, but there has to be some use for it at least. its not right to make the crafter gear weaker but much harder to obtain at the same time.

But meanwhile you have no problem with selling the items you get from raiding for millions.

Well thats okay. I hope you use that gil to furnish your house.
