If you take anything that isn't a weapon first on any class at all, you're doing it wrong.

DPS checks are everywhere currently, and you can tank just about everything in slaying accessories anyway.

If you intend to do Alex Savage, then weapon first.

the secondary stats on hauteclaire are a bit trash but +2 weapon damage is always a huge deal and besides, its only 695 tomes, gotta take advantage of the pld discount.

Hauteclaire brings bad memories of FFXI (It was the sword that made me quit lol).

WAR's Parashu has trashy stats too. But as mentioned before, +2 weapon damage is a huge deal.

The Hive Battleaxe has Determination which was greatly nerfed in HW, the Parashu has Crit which now stands out over Det. Both have Parry on them (yuck) so it's a wash there. Overall I would consider the Parashu an upgrade over the Hive Battleaxe in both weapon damage and secondaries.

I know parry is like the only tanking secondary stat in this game, but come on, WAR AFs is just stacked with it. Not only does our AF2 looks like garbage, it is decked out with garbage stats. Makes me sad.

Sword isn't great, but most of the armor is just garbage. See so many plds out there with the new body, and it just makes me cry. But either way, weapon damage is kinda king. A sword upgrade with crappy secondaries, is still better than an armor upgrade with great secondaries.
