Will the ragers please stop flipping out?
So you have a class to teach or attend, or work to get up for in a few hours - you made the decision to wake up for the broadcast - you did.
They are providing English interpretation, regardless that some of you really strongly don't like the format - but they are providing English interpretations.
You made the assumption the broadcast would spoken be in English.
See it from their perspective - why would the fact that you cannot speak Japanese prevent you from participating? You can still tweet questions, which they will interpret from English to Japanese, and they will still selectively answer questions and post English interpretations of the Q&A's back to Twitter. You also still get to see the videos and pics they are displaying in real-time.
You're not raging because SE has done wrong again - you're raging because you're used to being catered for English first, and having to deal with communications where English is the second language you are finding it difficult to deal with.
If you don't want to participate just because the spoken language being used isn't English, stop wasting the time and emotional energy of the rest of us and go back to bed.
Please.
Seriously. Your English-centric raging is considerably embarrassing.
I don't have an issue merely with them broadcasting in Japanese. Nor do I necessarily have a problem with them using twitter. Will the ragers please stop flipping out?

What I have a problem with is that this live letter was announced a week ago, and likely planned well before then. Yet at no point in time did the English community representatives feel the need to tell us that the video would be only in Japanese and that we would have to follow on Twitter if we wanted to get any form of translation.
This is necessary information, the English representatives should have given us.

Ok, that point I can understand.I don't have an issue merely with them broadcasting in Japanese. Nor do I necessarily have a problem with them using twitter.

I would understand it too, however I figured the reps knew the community, after 20+ years (or even 1 year of FFXIV) would have known that Square is a Japanese based company whom have their main development force (at least for FF) based there.
It's like saying:
Blizzard: "We're going to live stream a new WoW update."
Then expect them to Live stream in Spanish because it's your native language despite the fact their main development force is English speakers.
Not to mention, they already had non-japanese speakers participate and get info via twitter or on a different webpage shortly after/during the stream before, like the last Fanfest they setup a website for translations.

#xivlive what are your opinions of Gifthorse?...jk can you give a shout out to our community reps? Especially Bay!!
I lol'd.
Thank you. Obviously I overreacted about the whole thing, but you have to understand that while yes I made the choice to stay up I thought I was doing so to watch a translated video. I'm likely going to be banned from this forum for my profanity strewn comments and I understand that. However, they have put me in a considerably bad mood.
My students will be the ones to suffer as a result of this. I just don't think that is fair... I'm rewriting their midterm's essay questions now. You indirectly forced my hand Bayonne. You made me do this because you couldn't do your job and properly inform the English community you represent about this important surrounding information regarding the live letter.
(I'm joking of course... I'm not really joking, but I'm not foaming at the mouth as you might imagine. Honestly, I think my classes were too easy anyways, and it isn't going to kill anyone to have to do a little extra thinking because I'm in a bad mood.)
Sometimes you take a topics course thinking it will be an easy A to pad your GPA (kind of like thinking you can simply watch a video and not learn the intricacies of how to follow a frivolous social networking site), and sometimes you are simply misinformed.

You prioritized a videogame event over your students' midterms?
Edit: Man maybe I wouldn't fire you I'd love to be in your class. I'd skip every one and draw pictures on my tests and say my excuse was I'd be playing games all day. You'd love me of course and you'd give me an A+ since I'd be an antisocial geek.
