This.
Every plz nerf thread is building on SE not preparing players for higher difficulty. How they can prepare anyone for higher difficulty if any slightly more difficult content gets "plz nerf-ed".
It's fine as it is as far as I'm concerned. If anything, more content could do with being made harder so that many prominent bosses end up feeling like the major threat that they're meant to be.
Thankfully Heavensward has given us quite a few reasonably challenging encounters that require coordination from a party.
It doesn't need a nerf. People just need to git gud. It's a faceroll fight as it is. New people do just fine on it. You just need to get better at explaining things. I just got this today as my leveling roulette. Went fine. As it always does any other time i get it. Typical OF whining and complaining.
Can't say I've ever seen this much elitism in a FFXIV thread.
Anyways, Garuda is much easier after a level or two. Too many people try to do it as soon as they reach the minimum level. That's the problem. This instance doesn't sync up well with everyone's class progression.
I don't know if it's the lack of certain abilities at that level, the gear difference, or the HP/MP pool needed. But yes, doing Garuda at the minimum level is insanely difficult for new people.
I gave up on it after two complete fail PUGS. One group even stayed together for hours and listened to the tank giving help. I went back after another level with some major gear upgrades and one-shotted it in a PUG. It made all the difference IMO.
I think that nerfing this fight would set people up for greater failure in the trials to come. Normal Garuda teaches transition mechanics that can be of benefit to someone who goes on to do King Moogle Mog, Shiva, and Nabriales. Newbies need to learn this stuff, it can't all be about making things speedy for veteran players.
It's not the fight. It's the minimum level. It's too low and doesn't work well with where certain classes are in progression. This is especially true for new players without access to better gear and cross class abilities. As a fresh 44 WHM this fight was an absolute nightmare. Two levels later (with quest gear) I one shot it with the essentially the same group. Normally a lower level is carried by a higher level counterpart but since this is a 4 man instance that will never happen.
People are bringing up Ravana Normal as if it was difficult in anyway. It's not.
Honestly... there isn't a single fight below Extreme (possibly Titan HM with lag) that I would consider difficult or necessary progression. I don't understand where this elitism is coming from. This is a great game, but it is very casual. Let's remind ourselves of that please. Other MMO's current and past have built much tougher instances requiring more people and hours logged.
