sorry, but have you played a BLM? their cast times are almost twice as long, the loss of mobility from GB/WM is next to nothing compared to what BLMs have to deal with. heck, a lot of the time in gauss barrel you have full mobility anyway due to procs/ammo. you can leave GB/WM on 98% of the time with no problems whatsoever due to how lenient they are.Or play Summoner, because its almost as free as the 2.x BRD playstyle.
Seriously, Wanderer's Minuet and the equivalent of MCH are terrible design decisions just to force players to have to do boss mechanics exactly like a BLM.
I don't play BRD much, just leveling it to 60 and barely played it during 2.0 but I can easily understand how people don't want to play bow mage.
Squenix messed up big time and are simply making every class too similar
it isn't even comparable to BLM's lack of mobility, when on top of long cast times they have enochian, punishing movement even further.

BRDs start out as Archers. i'm sure lots of people would like a Ranger type class from FFXI.
how can FFXIV have 4 ranged DPS and not a single one of them plays like RNG? how can all 4 only do maximum DPS with cast times? why does the game have no class variety?
imagine if all 3 melee DPS had to manage Grease Lighting Timers.
All 3 melee DPS DO have timers to manage.BRDs start out as Archers. i'm sure lots of people would like a Ranger type class from FFXI.

It's called AOE's avoid them before they are casted because this game doesn't handle action combat well, and if you lag you're fucked, so moving around actually helps if you get lucky enough to move out just as it lands. When you can't dodge an aoe after cast bar is past halfway it's a dumb system so maybe make it so if youdodge lastminute you don't take dmg then mobility might not be so important.Hint : The power of being able to move while DPSing is useless when there is nothing to dodge nor mechanics which forces you to move. It is for these moments that WM was created. Why always running around like a headless chicken if you don't need to move at all ? That's dumb and made BRDs look retarded before 3.0. Because almost every BRDs were doing it.
But wait the new dungeons just spam AOE's everywhere and back to back so mobility is needed and often.
WM can be a problem, but people saying GB is exactly the same clearly know nothing about MCH. Yes the skill does the same thing, but MCH was built with this skill in mind, so actually works really well with it. BRD was not built with it in mind, which does cause problems for some BRDs
Wait... How BLMs are doing then ? They take all the AoEs in the face ? I don't think so. And I don't think they are spamming Scathe either. It's called AOE's avoid them before they are casted because this game doesn't handle action combat well, and if you lag you're fucked, so moving around actually helps if you get lucky enough to move out just as it lands. those things do not stack. although adding BotD to DRG and positionals to NIN does make those jobs all more similar to each other as well which is also not good.
