It was generally a handful of people each making their own thread and then posting in each others. It looked like it was a "huge uproar", but it really wasn't. You can go back and count the number of unique posters and it's less than 50. I think my last count it was something like 30 people whining with a lot of repeat posts by a very vocal few.

The forums can never, never be relied upon for judging the amount of people on one side of an issue or the other. Besides the fact that the forums represent maybe 0.001% of the population, people are about 10x more likely to post about something they don't like than they do.
