FC Chest just gets raded, and GMs can do nothing.

Hi all,

So a new member was just invited to join our FC (not by me). As soon as they joined, they immediately raided the FC chest and left. They stole some furniture, airship materials, and three airship parts (all the expensive stuff). After the crime was reported, the GM says that that they do not have any power to do anything about stealing, and suggests I post feedback on the forums. Here I am.

Now I'm not going to cry over what was stolen, as the theif really can't sell used airship parts. Here's what I don't understand. These GMs have the power to discipline people for trolling raids, and people using vulgar language (basically general annoyances). However, when it comes to the blatant act of stealing, and actively preying on players that are probably a little to trusting, they can do nothing? That's where I am cry foul.

Considering the fact that FC crafting had just been introduced to the game, I'd imagine more valuable materials will be stored in the FC chest. This means that the thieves may find this type of activity a bit more appealing, especially since it's apparently allowed in the game. I certainly hope that SE decides to add some additonal security QoL features to the chest, as well as give the GMs a bit more power to discipline these types of thieves. Otherwise, I am extremely disappointed in how this issue is being handled.

Basically this. I ran a guild in WoW for years... and the above was just obvious.

That said, we also kept one fully open tab that we dumped 'junk' into as bait... and well, to get rid of. After the first time we had a recruit try to loot our guild bank, that was what I did - I just made it easier for the next one to do it... because I've still not seen a guild bank that was actually used for important stuff in any MMO... Even opening up a tab for looters... I had to task an officer every few months to vendor all the junk... and often all my officers would come up with excuses or suddenly be on vacation and I'd have to do it... and that continued even after I put policies in restricting what people were allowed to abandon into the guild bank...

When I was running a guild in Guild Wars 2... I just set the whole guild bank to open and put up a note saying "anything dropped in there is intended to be looted"...
- nobody took anything, and after the bank fileld up, we just ignored its existence...
- sometimes its easier to have a place to dump stuff you don't want to sell for whatever reason... and let some other person take and sell it if they are so inclined.

With a concept like FC-crafting... if mats have to be shared across crafters - it seems wise to have a tab locked to all the established crafters, and another tab that is the 'drop it here to get rid of it' 'bait' tab.
- If you're actually in a guild that is using that guild bank... and not just 'storing valuable stuff for a rainy day that never occurs'...
I see this a lot... highly locked down guild banks, that have items in them, that are often 1-2 expansions or tiers out of date... but its "important stuff"... like the place is run by the cast of one of those hoarder reality TV shows...
- If you don't use it within a month or so... you should probably just vendor it... that rainy day ain't coming.

Never, ever, ever give chest access to new joiners. There's a fault with the system in that unless you change the default all new members has access. Now you know that it should be changed and access privileges only given after a trial period.

I guess its your own fault to give every stranger 100% access to your belongings...

Shame about that, you should limit the fc chest access and remove it for the newest members to avoid robbery like this. only give them rights after they earn it otherwise this stuff will keep happening.
My fc just keeps putting junk into my chest and i hope one day someone will take it all out.

The fact that you seemingly have full Bank access on your default rank when inviting someone to your FC is probably the bigger issue here.
You might want to go through all your ranks and permissions and sort those out.
Seems like a oversight on the FC leader's part.

Yeah, you don't want to put expensive things in a tab accessible by everyone.

What I'd *like* to see, is the ability to lock out tabs to people that don't have security tokens on their accounts. WoW has this. Six of my 7 guild bank tabs can't be touched by anyone without one. You can't even be promoted past "member" without one on the account either. And best part about their system, is that if you take it off, it automatically demotes you to the first rank that doesn't require one.

nothing like having to have a GM log my character in and having me automatically demoted from my officer position(I'm GM, my alts are officer ranked) because when they log you in, they bypass all of the security directly(they don't need a password to log you in btw) since they bypassed it, it looks like the authenticator was removed. This also triggers the 72 hour wait before I could be promoted again. >< Lol

Seriously? What's SE supposed to do? It's up to the FC leader to keep better control over member premissions. All the security in the world wouldn't help if you hand the thief the keys to the safe.

Same with gil, in fact unless you can trust people, NEVER give players access to the Gil unless their trusted and sometimes not even then.
I have votes of what to do with fc gil to prevent people from stealing it.
