This isn't Einsteinian Physics. Gatherers need to allocate a lot more time reaching end game content then raiders do. It's pretty simple.

I don't disagree with you on that. I just got to red gatherer script cap after allocating most of the day it for. The majority of that time is just waiting around. Honestly its probably less than 3-4 hours of actual effort. Hell, probably less then an hour of real effort (ie thinking about my rotation, what I need to gather, what attributes I need). I don't understand how anyone can defend it.

Again, that is relative. To reach end-game content as a raider, you need up to date gear and know your job/role pretty well. The same goes for gathering. It just depends on what you have more experience in and how much time you invest in said position. What is easy to you may be hard for others. What may be easy for others may be hard for you.

It does not take more time reaching end game content as a gather than it is as a raider. I would say they are roughly equal, depending on either what field you focus in or if you choose to spread around your time equally.

I can defend a system like this because I understand the intent and purpose of such a system. As such, I adapt to it and accept it for what it is. I don't understand your problem with it, other than it looks like you don't like the grinding aspect of it.
