The Reason Roaille post HW

I haven't done this post HW, but a friend of mine is having issues.

Apparently, since the expansion dropped, they've added a fourth wave to the fight, making it even more difficult.

He's having trouble keeping NPCs alive. Probably because of low damage, but I don't know.

Any tips? Dragoon, I'd given him a full set of the stuff that's sold in Ishgard but I don't know if he's replaced any of it or not.

I don't know why they needed to add another wave to this fight either. Unnecessary pain in the ass.

Cleared it pre-HW, so can't say anything about how it is now.
Follow what the NPC's say, deal with troublesome enemies first, etc.

It's a tricky fight. I cleared it post HW by focussing down the mobs in the following order:

* Magitek Reaver, because it deals a crapton of damage.
* Healers, because healers.
* Thaumaturges
* Archers
* Everything else

After this, just focus on Roaille and you should be able to clear it. Note that she can't die until everything else has been defeated.

What Skos said. Healers will also try to heal themselves, so go to town against them; once they're out of the equation you can drop down the others far more efficiently.
Watch out for the claws - they just love to trap allies - and as soon as Yugiri and her shinobi reinforcements get that debuff going, make good use of it.

This fight is stupid hard for a few reasons:

1. The guy you are supposed to keep alive aggros Roaille and you CANNOT take her off him

2. Roaille cannot die

3. The fight lasts a stupidly long time and there's nothing you can do about it.

The key is 1. Keep Golden Eye Yuyuhase alive, 2. kill the Death Claws as SOON as they come out (one will go to Golden Eye, one to the derp guy you have to keep alive.. kill in that order) 3. kill healers.

(4. stack echo because the NPCs will STILL die over and over and this is the only way to beat it)

If he's a DRG he should be able to pick up most of the enemies and tank them himself to keep their focus off the NPCs-- just cycle the ID-Dis-CT and TT-VT-FT combos through them to keep aggro. Other than that, follow the advice everyone else has already given.

I beat this two days before HW on DRG. So I don't know if this still works but did for me.

The order of which you kill enemies will determine if you live or die.You must first kill the MEDICUS on the left side to stop him from healing enemies. Next, kill the Centurion (magitek) who as an aoe fire. Try to give Eline the Razor a few hits before the next wave pops. 2nd Wave - Kill the CLAWS immediately for they will kill your allies quickly!! Then focus on Saggitarius & Hoplomachus until the next wave pops. Kill as many as you can. 3rd Wave - kill the Aquilifer (healer) first, you will see a purple life line where he is tethered to Colossus. Avoid aoe's as much as possible while hitting the healer. Next, kill Colossus. Most of your allies will have killed the enemies by this time and the only two left will be Colossus and Eline the Razor. Focus on killing Colossus while your allies focus on Eline. When both of them die, mission is complete!

He was having trouble on the last wave. Apparently since HW launch they added another wave to the end of it, and the new mobs were wrecking him.

I had him adjust his kill order a little bit; he was following online guides and had it correct for the most part. Healers, claws, archers.

This fight only had three waves when I did it before the expansion. There's four now. That last one, from a quick internet search, is screwing with people. This was a kind of annoying fight even before the expansion :/

Honestly I don't know why SE decided to make this quest even more of a pain. People in my FC trying to get into Ishgard have been complaining left and right about it. It was obnoxious before and to add even more difficulty to it is just insulting.

Anyways as people have said it's all about target prioritization. The claws need to die ASAP followed by the healers, magitek, and thaumaturges.
