Returning into the game

Hello!

Just got back into the game, I stopped playing last June 2014, and now I'm playing again. My highest level character and achivement is Lvl50 WHM with a relic weapon.

Back then I got tired playing the game, because I feel that I'm so weak and can't accomplished hard dungeons. And I can only play 2hrs during weekdays and 5hrs on weekends.

Now I want to start again, should I continue my current and go for Heavensward or make a new character?

The thing is, I want to enjoy the game in my own pace but I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of crafting and gathering but they said you will just waste your time.

Hmm can someone advise me? I play in Odin server. Thank in advance.

If your account has enough character slots available for your server, hold on to your current character, and try starting a new one as well.

That way, if starting over doesn't keep the appeal, you still have your original character to return to.

As for crafting and gathering, they can be time sinks, but there are options in-game to boost exp gain, and you can make a fair amount of gil by selling some of the things you can gather or craft, so it can be worth it. However, you'll still need to progress through the story, or your gathering will be limited to ARR areas.

Crafting and Gathering could be for you, from the way you describe your situation. But only if you don't Craft or Gather any of the end-game stuff. The Red Scrips system is basically the DoW/M Tomestone system, but for Crafting and Gathering, and it is anything but a casual friendly system. In your limited time, it's highly unlikely you'd manage to cap every week, which means you'd probably want to forgo the Red Scrip system entirely, leaving you constantly a tier or two behind on crafting/gathering potential.

That said, SE has said they'll be easing the requirements for Red Scrips this week, so... Maybe after the hotfix it'll look better for you. Still, I'd go into this expecting to be unable to craft or gather the best of the best, just so you don't get your hopes up and crashed.

Hmm maybe I can start over and try a new character and also level my crafting and gathering?
Can you suggest a good Europe server other than Odin?
