Yeah it really buggers me, especially when I consider that many F2P or low budget MMOs have instanced housing and other insanced stuff without consistently saying they are low on server data.

I have heard it is because SE saves our character data every few seconds to avoid rollbacks.
I wouldn't really mind if they saved our data every 5 minutes or even 15 if it meant we wouldn't have to hear the same excuse every time we ask them to improve something.

Well to be fair Character data for FFXIV is larger than many other MMOs due to being able to play every job/class on one character.

Also I don't expect any major upgrades to the servers until they complete the transition of moving the EU data centre to the EU.

Yes, I understand that is the number 1 priority and it is fine. I have 110ms with WTfast and 150 without it.
Also if they have new infrastructure for EU servers it might mean, that we will have more data space when they start the EU data servers.
