At least they didn't REMOVE ITEMS FROM THE GAME to put them on the cash shop, as SE has done.

Gunspec explained this clearly. In 2.0 we could obtain both old items and new holiday items with gil. SE then decided to REMOVE all of those items from the game so that they could sell them on a cash shop. It's disgusting.

I take that over never being available to begin with tbh.
Some Blizzard mounts look amazing and you know from the very first picture you will NEVER get them unless you pay real life cash. It doesn't matter if you played from the very first alpha of the game or not.

You were there when the stuff was introduced during a holiday event? Great for you, have some cool looking gear/mount.
You missed it because you didn't play? Well to bad. This is an evolving mmo, it's not going to wait for you.
Want to have it no matter what? Fine but you are going to pay irl cash.

Ideally it shouldn't even be in the cash shop. Rewarding your loyal costumers is a great thing and so weird when frowned upon (like in this very thread).
