    Unfortunate omissions for macros

So I've been messing around with macros more because I wanted to try to find a way to make on that cycles through different attacks each time you press the button...

I know this actually works for Monk because of the different stances so you can just be like

    /action "Snap Punch"
    /action "True Strike"
    /action "Bootshine"

And it will work but this only works because of the way the stances flow into one another.

I'm wanting to make a macro for Paladin that cycles from Fast Blade to Savage Blade to Rage of Halone each time you hit the button just to save space on the cross hotbar. It doesn't seem possible as it is right now but I was hopeful when I figured out the /crosshotbar command.

It will let you set an action, general action, item, emote, pet action, companion action, companion, minion, mount, enemy sign or way mark to any slot on the cross hotbar but NOT a macro =\

If you could set other macros through this command it would be possible. Just make three macros that set the subsequent one to the same slot on the cross hotbar and BAM you just saved 2 slots.

Of course this would probably be stupid without another added function like "On Hit" or whatever that will only execute the /crosshotbar command when the ability from the previous line scores a hit. Otherwise you'd be wasting two actions not being able to go back to Fast Blade if it missed the first time...

I guess maybe it's too much to ask for expanded macro capabilities like this but it would be really sweet to be able to do stuff like this. Really just adding a 'macro' subcommand to the /crosshotbar command would go a LONG way since you could setup macro cycles on a single slot.

They used to do this, in beta. It was removed for exactly the reason you want it in. They do not want 'macro chains' to be in the game.

I don't see why they would mind this being in the game. It *does* provide a slight advantage but it's an advantage that any player could have with a little bit of work. I would think it would be a good thing to reward the ingenuitive.

If anything it would balance play between console and PC players. PC players can have huge hotbars and also get a mouse while console players are stuck with 16-skill hotbars and a keyboard. As far as I know we can't bind skills to keys either though somebody teach me how to do this if its possible! There simply isn't enough room on a 16-skill hotbar to have every useful skill of your class once you hit a certain level. Sure you can switch between hotbars but that is kind of annoying. It would be much easier to utilize macros and condense the set down to 16 slots.

It's a dps loss to do this.

    1. please don't use macros on GCD abilities, as it removes the ability queue feature.

    2. you CAN macro different abilities onto the same button and chain them by using the /chotbar macro function. basically when you use an ability, it also switches hotbars, so you can set everything up on another hotbar exactly the same except for that one button, and when you use ability 1 it will change the hotbar and have ability 2 in that spot.
