“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway

The Esoteric weapons can only be equipped by jobs; something that was unique to Relic weapons. I am led to believe that the Esoterics will be upgraded to Relics in 3.1. The antique versions can be considered as the unfinished X relic and the upgraded being more polished up like regular X relic.

Either grind for your esoteric weapon, get the upgrade material to improve it, then turn it into your relic. The Esoteric weapons can only be equipped by jobs; something that was unique to Relic weapons. Use your zeta as a catalyst.

You know you might be onto something, like remember how PLDs could use the MNK ironworks weapon? Yeah that was awesome....The Esoteric weapons can only be equipped by jobs; something that was unique to Relic weapons. I am led to believe that the Esoterics will be upgraded to Relics in 3.1. wait a minute....the Ironworks weapons could only be equipped by the job it was specified for too, I wonder what it means??

Ironworks weapons could also be wielded by just the base class. Even Hive weapons can. The new Esoterics weapons are only for jobs.

Can look at the armor instead. All tanks could use the same Ironworks for example, these armor pieces are for job only.
You're not understanding what he said.
The Poetic WEAPON could be equipped by Pugilist/Monk, or Gladiator/Paladin.
The RELIC weapon could onyl be equipped by MONK, or PALADIN. You couldnt' take your job crystal off while wearing them.
He wasn't suggesting (At least I don't think he was) that Monk could wear Paladin and Paladin could wear monk.
Before being sassy, please think about the difference c:

Post-edit edit in:
I'll even challenge you to go one step further.
Curtana (i80) - PLD RELIC
Onikiri (i170) - GLA, PLD
Antiquated Hauteclair (200) - PLD RELIC
This is actually why I think these weapons ARE our relic weapons. Now, weather or not they plan to have THESE relic weapons undergo a change, or if perhaps there will be an alternative, is another story entirely.

Not sure if you're trolling or what. The below poster already made the point and you started coming back with wildly incorrect snide jabs as if you'd disproven something. The old relics were the only weapons that could be equipped by a job but not the base class. The new eso weapons are the same which suggests they may be the new relics.
This does indeed seem to be likely. It's worth noting that the upgrade NPC has all of the esoterics weapons listed under 'Artifact Armor' as well which again suggests they're more significant than normal tomestone weapons. The Esoteric weapons can only be equipped by jobs; something that was unique to Relic weapons.
