    [dev1016] The New Dyeing Process

I really love the new simplified dying process. I would just like to possibly get clarification on a few things.

To dye an item you just need the original item, a base material, and of course the dye. Would it be possible in the future to:
    • dye already colored items using the same process?

My last question is would it also be possible to dye Rare/Unique gear using the same process? Like, Revolutionaries Bliaud is amazing but the color is...not so great.

That is all I have to ask~

Would love info on this as well =) I'm hoping we can dye items already crafted or have been dyed. Also, brought this up in another thread but hoping that the recent recipe list update (the recent search recipe list I mean, not the post a few days ago) just left out some color variations for the new items. I hope they aren't restricting color choices once again for certain gear... would feel like yet another step backwards in that regard.

Well I'm fairly certain there won't be dye color restrictions on gear. My reasoning for this is that within the same type of gear the examples aren't consistent. Example:

Felt Coif is listed in Black and Grey
Felt Hat is listed in Green and Red
Felt Gloves are listed in Blue
Felt Barret is listed in Blue, Brown and Red

With the current dye tiers the color is consistent across the same material. I think this heavily supports the example theory.

So there we can probably make more color variations than the ones listed? That'd be cool.

But I'm asking if it will be possible to color items that are already colored in the future.

I think they could have gone with a more simple route with dying armors. for example. Simply have the dye, talk to an NPC and pay a small fee. I do believe they have future plans with the route they are taking though.. so guess we will have to wait and see.

Maybe I'm wrong, but from what Yoshi said I thought that the new dye system was something like an upgrade to the base item and the colored item has better stats for certain roles (as he mentioned the Cobalt Plate set and the Red Cobalt Plate set with better stats for tanking).
For exemple, I noticed that every tier of robe has two different colors, so I guess that one has better stats for healing and the other one for dps (or one is better for thau and the other for conj).

So, I think that there is a color restriction for gears and that also you won't chose a different color based on wich one you like, but based on stats, so actually you won't have any choice.

Honestly the new dye system seems easy and all, but to me it sounds like a huge step backwards in terms of customization, but I really hope to have misunderstood the whole thing.

Same here, Nuru. While I do like the idea of dyeing while crafting an item, I think it's good to also have the option for it to be further changed after being crafted if you so desire. I'd also be happy if they have a preview feature before committing to a new dye color (at least when using the npc!).

I never heard of that, all ive heard was that certain tiers are allowed a certain amount of colors. Its to distinguish what level a player may be by seeing what color their gear is.

I doubt color will have anything to do with stats.

As far as that's concerned, really not sure. I'd also love an answer to that.
