Question about cross class/job skills

A simple question....

Why are Ninja, Machinist, Dark Knight and Astrologian able to cross skill from the other classes, but none of their 'class' level abilities are available to others?

For that matter, why can't the three Ishgardian jobs cross skill with each other to some extent?

I know that cross class skills are rooted in the 'class' system, and we're talking about jobs, but it stands out like a sore thumb that no jobs can cross skill with these 4 new jobs, and yet they *can* cross skill with the other classes.

Perhaps there is an opportunity to give us a 6th cross class skill (at lvl 60) and add these 4 new jobs to the cross skill network...?

Well MCH, DRK, and AST are jobs so no class abiliies, but idk why for rogues. Maybe SE felt like there were better combinations for the other jobs cross class options. Only thing rogue offers that useful is Goad

Or they could select a smattering of skills from the first 30-35 levels of the new jobs since that is in effect what happens with the others. It just seems odd that the new jobs can access the older job/class abilities, but there is no reciprocal access....

I don't see why skills from the newer classes/jobs shouldn't be able to cross class so I agree. However I personally would prefer if they kept a level cap on how high of a level you can cross class from say thirty. I assume the sixth cross class slot you speak of would allow dps to take from mch, tanks drk and healers ast correct? Even if they just allowed from your mains two cross class pools a sixth slot would be nice.

I just think thirty in two other classes besides your main should be more than enough levels to unlock all your cross class abilities. I say this in regards to exceptions like mantra, yes I already have it but fourty two is too high for a cross class skill imo.

Please seriously take this thread in consideration SE.

In ARR there was 'a bit of point' into leveling all 50, only, A BIT.... Now, there's literally not point into all 60... And some people likes to level, and to use stuff from their classes.... The crossclass system is dead right now, I really hoped we could have the new job skills in more other jobs... The warrior of light should be awesome enough to use mixed knowledge and skills!

Real talk though, what abilities specifically would you be looking to cross class from AST/DRK/MCH?

Because Dark Knight, Astrologian and Machinist are, as said, Extra Jobs, they don't have a class forming their base, an important feature by which to share abilities from. And rogue isn't cross class for any Jobs, an equally important feature if other Jobs are to pool from it's abilities. They are, literally, their own things. There's nothing you can do about the Extra Jobs as, technically, they are completely quest-based. In fact, all Jobs are quest-based and there's not one precedent, not even in the classes with their two quest-based abilities, where quest-based abilities are cross class. Should this change? Well, first, they'd need to change the class system, but in order to do that they'd have to divorce Jobs from classes. Once they do that, then they'd be free to move on classes and maybe change the cross class system. But this would all be a not all that small a change, and would have to be approached very carefully, else they break the game.
