    Aetherial Power[Lore-based thread]

Ever noticed those aethercite turning? We all know that aethercite act as beacons for teleporting, but what if they could be used for more?
Aethercite sit in currents of Aether that flow through the Lifestream. This "current" I believe, causes the rotation of the Aethercite. What if the the Aethercite could be reshaped and re positioned to increase rotational speed and torque? The rotational force of the Aethercite could be converted into electrical force by attaching a AC generator to the Aethercite.

Think about it. We could for Eorzea's first electrical company by tapping into the Lifestream!

    edit: This couldn't possibly backfire!

I think the Garleans may have already done that with their Capital city since Lore did mention the Garlean Empire is already advanced far enough to use Aether powered machines from house appliances and other stuff.

Heck the Machinist Magitek Pack you see the Job carry with them...

    SPOILERS
Is powered by that same system which allows them to generate unlimited ammo, create their Unlimited supply of Turrets, and even Power their Turrets serving as a portable power source and Aether manipulator.

But the physical shape of the object will not increase the speed of the rotation. If you notice, the 'flat' aethercite in Azys Lla turns at about the same rate as the big fat one in the Sea of Clouds. and the pointy ones in the majorty of Eorzia. If the aethercite and lifestream "wind" worked on the same rules as physical wind, then the flat one should move faster than round ones.

Now I don't doubt that the aethercite can tap into the lifestream, but the effect doesn't seem to be physical. The trouble would be finding a way to generate power from aether that didn't consume the aether and instead just redirected it to create energy. If we created an aether engine that sucked away aether it would be no better than a primal.

However, an idea comes to me revolving around crystals. Assuming aether naturally condences into crystals and the elemental aspect of said crystals is felt when the aether in the crystal is used (Using fire crystals burns, ice crystals freeze, etc) then you could use various types of crystals and controll the release of their elemental aspect to generate different effects. I can see it now, a home wired to a device that disipates the aether from crystals for various functions. Ice clusters to cool the air, Fire crystals to cook your meals, Water shards to filter your drinking water.
