Personal housing time limit?

You've clearly never been deployed or had to travel overseas for work, I take it. There are several military members in my FC who are inactive for months at a time, despite loving the game and playing as often as they can when they're on leave.

Okay, you have me there. I know a few people that are active military and even set up a special rank in our company for when they are deployed. There's no way to really address that with a month-and-a-week timer. But given the limited number of plots available there's really no good solution that won't inconvenience someone. If I had to log out for an extended time and had a house, I'd be upset at losing it but it won't push me to rage-quitting the game. I've had worse than that happen to me and I still kept playing (chocobo raising in XI, took a month off then had to spend another month nursing the poor thing back to health only to have it retired right after. >,< The feels...).

Yeah thats the problem with the housing system right know..there will never be a great solution and thats why we hope that maybe just maybe with all our complaining we can show SE that instanced housing at least for private houses would be the best . Nobody would loose anything, FC's still would be needed for example airship and other things. I also would have no problem with maybe more restrictions for FC houses because unlike personal houses there are normally more than one person there. So having a timer where maybe at least one member has to visit the house in like 3 months should be doable. And maybe you can only buy a house per account and not character and maybe if a FC sell their house they can´t buy another one for some time. This would especially punish those house sellers.

I don´t know if I would quit the game if I would loose my small house..but surely I would do that if I had a big one because all that work would be gone in seconds..maybe even with some nice rare furniture that would be gone too...and since housing is one of the biggest selling points for me, next to story, glamour and minions this would hit me hard.
