False Reporting Resulting in Ban?

Has anyone ever been actually banned from the game because a group of elitists thought it would be funny to report them and get them banned? This has never happened to me, but I wonder if things like this really do happen.

I'm sure even hardcore elitists know that falsifying reports (The GM's do investigations and don't just take your word) would result in THEM being banned instead.

Not this game, but it happened to me in Aion. I was gathering and this guy was being a jerk. I gave him a tongue lashing and just ignored him after that. He got his guild buddies together and they all reported me for botting, even though I had spoken to him not long before.

I got a temp ban and when I contacted NCsoft about it, I explained what happened. I even had SSs of our "conversation". They immediately lifted my ban and that dude and all his friends got permabanned.

They do? I thought they glanced over the chat logs just looking at the reported party, ignoring the fact that both sides were arguing and punishing the one who didn't get butthurt enough to run to Mommy GM.

(No i'm not really!) No can't say I've had this happen to me. But I have heard horror stories of exs getting each other banned because they've been unfaithful. The swines!
