The Companion System Could Use Some Work

Right now, the Chocobo system is nice, but it has a lot of issues that should be fixed. Specifically:
    1. Being unable to que in Roulette when a Companion is summoned.
This is pretty self explanatory. It sucks having to dismiss when queing.
    2. Tank Chocobos being essentially worthless outside of the awesome barding.
I would love to be able to meet the positional requirements as I level up Monk, and it sucks to have a spec be essentially useless.
    3. Being unable to summon Minions while a Chocobo is active.
It devalues Minions imo. It's bad enough you can't use them in dungeons, but not being able to use them when solo either makes it almost pointless to have them.
    4. Being unable to mount other mounts while a Chocobo is active.
Ditto, I know it makes "sense" to mount the Chocobo when its out. But often times (Especially on my WHM) I use the Companion because it takes too long to not have that extra DPS. Not because I just love flying around on a Chocobo. They're a great mount of course, but after just getting an airship and a dragon, I don't really want to only fly around on a Chicken while I'm soloing.

Hopefully Square can work on this, I know there are other issues that need to be resolved too, but the Companion system would be so much better if it was ironed out more.

You forgot one thing thats like the worst.
    We can't control our chocobos.
They just attack the first thing we attack and we acn't make them change target.

Like, me and my two fc mates did maps. Two outside mobs decides to join the fight, so we move away from them to make them run back
Our chocobos, all 3 of them, decides that it's more important to chase mobs that's gonna run back and be at full health.

The chocobo system feels like it's still in beta and that the developers don't even know how to fix it.

yeah it's really irritating. For example, I might want to be able to send my tank chocobo in, and let it get a few seconds aggro before attacking myself. But you can't even do something as simple as that! You always need to attack first.

Also, Chocobos counting as Party members prevent you from receiving party invites. Why not instead let you receive the invite, and then just auto dismiss the chocobo if you accept?

Shouldn't even have to do that, you could just merge the parties unless it'll be over a full party, with the inviter as leader.

haha, yeah true. Which brings up a thought: can a party leader dismiss or kick chocobos? I've never tried it. Because I can see the complaint about a choco taking up a members space when the leader is attempting to invite several people at a time. If the party slots get filled up with chocobos between the time a player gets an invite and when they accept, the player gets an error.

tank chocobos are not useless, they actually scaled really well with the expansion.

i was killing Tier 3 Mark Bills in the Hinterlands and Azys Lla on BRD at Lv 51. it actually got harder since i got to 53, have to slow down DPS so the Chocobo can hold hate.

point 1 is a technical problem that they haven't been able to deal with since forever.

Putting it in healing stance is like putting a big sign on your companion saying hey <Kill me please I wont dodge anything ill just stand here and take it> it not like theirs already a command in the game to hold position for pets or have them follow again after the fight finish I mean come on that wouldn't make any sense to add something like in a game.... \(-.-)/

Well, you *can* make them change target, but it's not intuitive. You just put the chocobo in healer stance for a second, then throw him back into attacker/defender/free and hit the mob you want him attacking.

I don't understand why that can't just implement them like they did with smn pets. Where they don't take up party space and where you can control them. I mean they already have a pet bar system in the game already. Also if they can make it so that smn pets don't take up party space what's makes it so different for companions to not take up party space.
