Fun is subjective. I was falling asleep last night having to see the same walls and bosses with just some different battle mechanics.

PVP is and will always be fun though, because the outcome is not always gonna be the same and because guess wut, it's COMPETITIVE! One of the things that PVE needs desperately in order to spice up the content and breathe life into it, in my opinion. But mostly, it needs variety not in terms of flavour, but in terms of core design for the content itself, not the whole game, I specify in case someone comes with their #youwantthewholegameredesignedzz?! again. It's been explained what people are exactly looking for in other threads. Won't get into it again.

In before the #goplayanothergamethen,#thisisnotffxistoptryingtomakeitexactlylikeit,#ffxiistheworsthingever,#thatstootedious, toomucheffort,#no,#thisisagamemarketedforcasuals (though we have some of the most non casual things like red scrips, savage and grinding, teehee), #iliketurtles bombshell drops! (Or am I too late already? :3 Haven't read the whole thread)

Damn you botters, damn you all. Thanks to you we have no claim system. Cheaters always ruin everything. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ

I don't understand it either, a simple fix would be adding Gugal Library, The Vault and Research Facility as part of the "Expert Roulette", but make those give you reward of 70 Law and 30 Esoteric (for Library and Vault, 80 Law for ARF). Suddenly you have FIVE, three of them are "easier and give less reward" but hey, beats cycling TWO things over and over.

Another easy fix would be adding 50 Esoteric to the DR:High Level, upping the Esoteric reward on leveling to 20,adding 30 esoteric + 60 law to Main Scenario. These are EASY fix, but suddenly now you have more options to do "old" content and they are kept semi relevant since it gives esoteric rewards. It is not going to break the game when MORE people gets to play content, even if it is contents from 2.0-2.55

We just want OLDER content from 2.0-2.55 to be slightly relevant in lieu of 3.0, IF you have jobs that are level 60 and have the expansion. There is absolutely no reason to let previous ARR content to die because you have 3.0 - ESPECIALLY when it becomes painfully obvious 3.0 is somewhat "lite" in content. Why not do easy fix on older content and making those viable alternate options so that now you can choose from many activities to do.

Just my opinion but I'm glad the 2.0-2.55 content isn't relevant outside of roulettes. Personally I've ran that stuff so many times that I never want a reason to do it again at this point.

That said, I would love to see new dungeons and whatnot but it's pretty obvious they'll stick to the 2.0-2.55 content update scheme following the expansion. If you look at it 3.0 basically has the same amount (slightly more) of content that 2.0 did when it first launched so you can expect the content release times to be similar as well. They've been using the same content update scheme since launch, every patch brings 2 new hm dungeons and 1 new dungeon, plus either a 24 man or new 8 man floors. I highly doubt that's going to change now.

I agree it's gotten kind of ... meh. This week, doing Expert Roulette only to help friends... I myself have capped on Eso in a day. I don't mind the helping bit, of course, but yes I'm definitely falling asleep. Well, in Continuum; Neverreap doesn't let me fall asleep because that pretty much "constant movement" place with the ridiculous lag I've been having pretty much all week is a whole other kind of fun. But yeah, very bland.

The thing is, "vertical progression" keeps coming up everywhere... And the more I see it, the more I'm starting to feel "why???". Like, it's being forced so much, and y'know, it makes perfect sense in a game where one character is one class. But here? The game's core system (a selling point if you will) is "be everything on one character". So force this type of gameplay that makes people zoom completely in on just one class?? The main reason, I think, that the game feels so restrictive, despite its basic concept. Why I myself have seen/heard several people complain about how restrictive everything is with the lockouts and weekly caps and everything, that really don't allow for gearing up more than just one "main". The concept of "main" should not exist in this game with its Armoury system.

And yes, Savage is still i210. (Gear level is more than triple of our actual character level, does that in itself not scare anyone?) But - what is it needed for? Those who beat it can beat it without being i210 average, obviously. The next hardcore raid is not coming in 3.1, I'm pretty sure of that - unless they have either more sections to Alexander than just three, like with Coil; or they have another one already up their sleeves after Alexander. As far as I remember anyway, since 3.1 is supposedly bringing the 24-man "casual" raid, which will be...maybe i180? Giving i190 rewards? (Or even i170/180 respectively.) So yeah - even doing Alex normal, I have a feeling we'll be more than a little overgeared for 3.1. Or not, which will mean even faster progression on this vertical treadmill climb.... which makes it have even less sense than so far.

All the while the actual gear is not really diverese... outright paintjobs with the very same model and textures; minor reskins with the same models, time and time again. (Esoterics gear, for the most part, is beautiful, don't get me wrong. It's the exception though.) So one can't even really argue glamour purposes.

More players = more often to come across a variety of players... including the stereotypical sort.

While MMORPGs were generally looked at from an exploration perspective over a decade ago, there's not much of that around these days due to technology advancements and the general mentality that is considered normal (by interwebz standards). These days, the norm is to expect everything possible in as short of time as possible. Doesn't mean they're right to think it, just means that's what the general mind thinks. To us now, our time is precious and is worth more than anyone elses... even if our old selves (assuming we were adults or near it), would disagree with that notion had it been 10 years ago. Ayn Rand thinkers, essentially.

Is there someone holding a gun to your head forcing you to keep playing? I missed the part where we are required to keep playing this, or any other, game if we are no longer having fun with it. If you burned yourself out, then take a break. Why come here and start lamenting?

Honestly, the way MMOs work now are partly to blame for that.

In FFXI it was easier for people to create bonds, to get to know others, because the game forced you to play with others. Whereas in games like this, it's mostly a solo adventure, with the DF with people that never say hi back, or at all. People complained about having to be forced to play with others to progress through something, well they got their DF, there you go. People complained about having to wait hours to find a party, well, DF, there you go. Instant gratification affects every social aspect of the game.

Easing everything compromised the social aspect and I completely hate it. I made lots of friends in FFXI easily and in this game, the few friends I manage to make, tend to quit. I can't add friends to my FL through DF, farm parties are always too serious to make friends with, there's no real reason to do content with your FC, it's all 8 man statics and that's it, and you wont always get along super well with people in the static... but you are stuck with the same people. In FFXI, at least the LS had variety of people you could befriend and since there was no cap for instanced content (asides certain content like nyzul), you could do stuff with the whole LS and therefore, you could get to know the other people in the big group that weren't in your static.

People don't like to explore and hate tedious mobs that go after them because then they have to invest more time than needed playing the game (lul), they just want everything easy so they don't have to put in more time in gaming and they also want to get rewarded the same (?!), which is really annoying because games don't work like that, not even mobile games (unless you pay of course, which then makes me ask: Why the hell do you even play if you are just paying your way through so you don't have to play?!), not even board games (and there's some reaally long board games out there). Everyone just afks in Idyllshire and DFs, if they move somewhere it's to do a Hunt or a Fate.

So blame the people asking for easiness from the start and the Devs for giving in. This is why we get games like this, that only proliferate that tendency of focusing on shinies instead of the community or the world they play in.

    Disclaimer: This is MY opinion!
