Okay, I've played now for a year and kept my mouth shut for the most part, hoping that somehow this new dev team would eventually get battle right. Well, I would venture to say that after reading patch notes for 1.19 that it still isn't there yet.
I've been playing Gladiator, Archer, Conjurer, Thaumaturge and Pug. Tell me Mr. Producer, you can sit down, play this game and seriously call the battle fun? Both in a party and solo? How many hours does it take you to become bored shitless?
It's pretty bad when I'm playing solo and the course of battle goes something like this. Buff myself, fight two mobs that are about 3 to 5 levels higher than myself, then put my weapon away and rest for 3 minutes before I can engage again because I have to wait for HP & MP to heal. Repeat process. HOW BORING!!!!
I would do more party play but I can't even keep members in my linkshell. After 1.18 I recruited 30 members the first day. They all quit playing within a week. You can't even get people to play this game for free. Forget about asking them to pay for it.
I would venture to say that your battle reforms fell short. I like what you did but you put the classes way out of balance and I see nothing in 1.19 patch notes indicating you've fixed the problem. Let me try my hand at prophecy here. I'll bet that no matter how much content you add that you won't gain any more players after 1.19 is released. Actually, I'll bet you'll lose more players. Combat IS NOT fun yet. I've read lots of great ideas on these forums and I've watched you guys just ignore them.
Let me give you guys a clue. You are making a product and providing a service for money (or that's the goal and point of being in this line of business, anyway). You must provide us something that WE want, not something YOU want. I've seen how SE works. You put loads of manipulative controls in your code to limit the progress of the player. You might get away with that if you have a popular product, (and that is the key "Popular Product"). However you do NOT have a popular product. Therefore putting that crap in your code just serves to drive more players away. Have none of you done any studies in psychology 101?
Anyway, just some advice. You all can flame me all you want. I'll be joining the masses that have quit. Sure, Ill check back after each patch to see if you guys get it yet or not, just like the majority of everyone else.
Those of you that are left are the minority and surely won't pay SE's rent as there aren't enough of you. I do hope that SE gets it right soon though as I really would like to see the game do well.
