    Inventory space suggestion

I hate random suggestion posts, so I'll make one I guess.

We all have inventory issues, and SE has constantly reminded us that it's pretty much our problem.

So here is my suggestion, (If it's been made before, sorry)... It also comes from FFXI (Sorry ffxi haters).

Key items for full armor sets:

FFXI had a system where you could farm the full set of an armor type (rare armors, think green / blue) trade that full set to an npc and get a key item ticket that you could trade in and get that full set back at any time.

Ex.... Trade in full set of High Allagan Fending set, get key item "High Alligan Fending X Ticket"

We all have more than enough key item slots to hold a few of these tickets, and it should reduce server loads by reducing 5 items down to 1.

It's simplistic, and I don't know if it could be implemented. But I would like it.

    ** Edit: From FFXI

    FANTASY XI Development Team (24/3/2005)

In the previous version update, a new service was added allowing players to safely store full sets of artifact armor for a small fee. Due to the positive feedback regarding this new feature, the development team has decided to expand the equipment storage service to include over thirty new sets of various low-level armor and clothing. After trading a full set (consisting of 4 to 5 pieces) to one of four NPCs located in each of the major nations, players will receive a claim slip that can be presented when they wish to have their armor returned.

Whether for level-restricted orb battles, Promathia missions, or for raising support jobs, low-level equipment can eat up a lot of room in a player's Mog Safe. Utilizing this feature will make it easier to store and retrieve space-consuming armor sets, while leaving Mog Safes open to hold more important items. The days of throwing away sleepshrooms to open slots for your silver gauntlets are over!

We have 25 Key Item slots. Even if you ignore the fact that these Key Item slots are used for things like quest items and maps, 25 is WAY too small a number for a lot of glamour enthusiasts.

A ticketing system to hold full sets of armor isn't a terrible idea (they DO condense five items into one - six, if you include belt or weapon, and seven if you include both), but these tickets should stay out of the Key Item inventory.

What? I'm counting 75 slots. I don't even think there's a real limit to them programmed in, those are just the slots you can visualize.

Eh, egg on my face, then. Must be a PC thing, cuz on PS4, I only ever see one page of 25 slots for Key Items. I've never actually filled the entire page, but with the right quests open I know I easily could have. It could be that a second page becomes selectable once the first page is full, but by default the second page isn't viewable on PS4, as far as I know.

If there really is no limit to the number of Key Item pages, then it probably wouldn't be terrible to implement armor storage using Key Items - though it does have the potential of introducing a lot of clutter to the Key Item inventory...

Looks like 75 spots to me.

Aha looks like Wilan beat me to the punch.
Maybe he could spare some of those shards with me....

But my question is why even have it as a key item? Just make it a normal item. A full set of gear could be up to 13 items for some classes. For every 13 items on your retainer that could be made into 1 ticket, that seems like a great way to save space.

I never even really farm for those. I think the majority of them came from v1.0, when monsters (other than sprites) used to drop shards on death.

    Those were the days.
I still remember the first time I noticed I had shards by the thousands. Not knowing what they were for at the time. So I sold them to an NPC to get some spending cash.
The next day I decided to start up a crafting class. Boy did I suddenly feel sheepish!

Because we have so many free key item spaces. Instead of trying to add more inventory, or convert key item space to inventory space, they can just add key items without needing to seriously convert their inventory system.

Typically the FFXI set was only the "left hand side" armor set. Acc, you were still on your own. This made it to where you only needed 5 items, so it was easier to farm that fifth piece.

Basically, this system would trade 5 inventory slots for one key item slot.

    Thanks for the responses everyone!

I believe they said the key item inventory is the same size as our normal inventory the extra pages are not able to be accessed until the subsequent one is filled. I want to say I saw Yoshi or a dev mention this before. I could be wrong though.
