You do realize that the ads in the privacy options are when you are browsing using Microsoft Edge (the new internet explorer)
    Which you can turn off.

Which is why two to three version later when they finally do upgrade or get a new computer we see even more people crying about how much changed, which had they kept up with the updates, would have been slow and easy to understand.

They (microsoft themselves) straight up say in those explanations that it doesn't matter if you turn stuff off because they simply turn it back on again.
I was pointing out how you are acting like a paranoid nut. And comparing data collection (WHICH LOTS OF COMPANIES DO AND YOU CAN TURN IT OFF) to Nazi Germany is offensive. Seriously, stop automatically believing image macros some nut put out there. Microsoft isn't going to see your porn collection.

    Please, use correct terms.
Crappy = bad. You CAN'T call it bad just because you don't like how it looks. You can call Metro bad because it's made for touch-based systems, you can't call a window system bad because you don't like that it's "flat".
Feel free to call it ugly, but that's just your subjective opinion, and shouldn't really concern anyone who cares about functionality over looks.

And yeah, the game runs smoother on 10 with DX11.

Yes, even if you had a boxed version of Windows 7 or 8.1.

This means that if you change some parts from your PC, like the CPU, Motherboard or even HDD, the Windows 10 key might not be valid anymore.
You would have to go back to 7/8.1, change your hardware, and then go back to Windows 10 via the free update.

They might change that later down the line, but for now, that's how it works.

If you plan to do some upgrades, do the BEFORE updating to Windows 10.
(Be also careful of what kind of Win7/8.1 licence you have as it might becore invalid with new hardware if you have an OEM key.)
according to microsoft using that product key along with the hardware(something in your bios or EFI on your motherboard) you upgraded on creates your product ID which is what you activate not the product key. since I have not tested the key on a clean install I have no idea if it works or if you will need to do the upgrade all over.

you're opinion is noted, however I have to disagree, the windows 7 ui was not super clean and I happen to think the windows 10 ui looks better and cleaner. you just dont like it cause it doesnt keep the crappy glass look right? or is it the shiny metalic look windows 8-10 lost you dont like?
10 isn't a mess either you only dont like it cause some of the shinies that were in windows 7 were changed.
you should also note on those benchmarks they were done with beta drivers(atleast for nvidia). the official drivers were released on the day of windows 10 and are far superior.

I'm still waiting to buy 2 copies of windows 10 (need to get paid first). I don't do OS "upgrades" fresh install or bust. I discovered first hand how bad OS upgrades are when I went from windows 98 to XP. My system didn't run anywhere near as well back then. After some research and over a decade of computer knowledge since then, I can safely say you need to do a fresh install usually. Format HDD and install OS fresh. Less problems and takes less time to set up too.

there is an option in windows 10 to refresh the system as though its a clean install so waiting to buy a full license if your system qualifies is not necessary. it's a pretty cool feature I wish windows 7 had
it's under "update & security"--->recovery, the option is called "reset this PC" in the options it lets you choose to "remove everything", then another page will appear and you choose "Remove files and clean the drive"
a warning to any of you thinking of using this, it will remove the option for you to downgrade back to windows 7
so if you decide you want to use windows 7 again you will have to reinstall it

also I hate to burst your bubble there but with the clean install of windows 10 vs the upgrade it doesnt actually take less time. I'm certain of this having installed it both ways.

Switch from 98 to XP happened like what, 13 years ago? Wouldn't one think the people doing this stuff got better by now?

I did an upgrade on 2 machines now, one from 8.1, the other from 7. Both run perfectly fine and better than the prior system did.

Also you can do a clean install without buying the copies, if you own Win7 or Win8. Just get the ISO from MS and use your existing product keys.

Two options here for getting the free copy and doing a clean install. Here's a third. Do the upgrade, search for Magic Jelly Bean. Run that and it will show you your Win 10 CD key. Copy it down then do a clean install with that key. Though honestly, the option to do a reset is easier, but I personally also like having the key somewhere I can find it.
