Windows 10 [Did you upgrade?]

I upgraded, the game runs exactly the same as it did before.

The launcher doesn't seem to be remembering my username though. But I do like the layout of Windows 10 infinitely better than 8.1, so it's worth the tradeoff.

Unfortunately, after upgrading to Windows 10 the launcher no longer works. Just shows the launcher version and goes to "Not responding" after a few seconds.

Only reinstalling seems to work for one login, then it's broken again.

5. Horrible, OS is slow and chunky. Takes 1.30-2 mins to boot to the login, where 8.1 would take 10 seconds to land me on the login screen, everything has delays, opening start menu takes 2-3 secs, every app takes 2-3 secs to start, even the calculator. 8.1 was everything instant 99% of the time. Reverting back to 8.1 today.

6. Did a clean install from the start, nothing saved, format etc etc.

And i know its not my system. 8.1 ran perfectly flawless. If anything it feels like a downgrade to 7 again, with XP boot times.

I upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro N to Windows 10 Pro N two days ago. The only issue was that I needed to reinstall my Nvidia graphics drivers.

FFXIV would not start initially, but installing the Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 fixed it. Seeing as N and KN versions have been around since XP days, I'd call that shoddy programming on SE's part.

DX11 seems to work fine with no noticeable changes.

Windows 10 seems better than stock Win8.1, but possibly worse than Win8.1 with the third-party Start8 start menu - I needed to manually add my system-wide start menu to the indexing service to get search to work for those programs.

I am prepared for a clean reinstall, but I don't think it'll be necessary. It seems to start up slower, but otherwise seems just as fast as Win8.1.

Just a little warning for everyone: the key you get when updating to Windows 10 is some sort of OEM generic key.
Yes, even if you had a boxed version of Windows 7 or 8.1.

This means that if you change some parts from your PC, like the CPU, Motherboard or even HDD, the Windows 10 key might not be valid anymore.
You would have to go back to 7/8.1, change your hardware, and then go back to Windows 10 via the free update.

They might change that later down the line, but for now, that's how it works.

If you plan to do some upgrades, do the BEFORE updating to Windows 10.
(Be also careful of what kind of Win7/8.1 licence you have as it might becore invalid with new hardware if you have an OEM key.)

I'm not touching it even if Microsoft were to pay my a salary to use it. I don't like Windows, I hate Microsoft, I don't see the point. I was already forced into using Windows 7, I think I'll just keep it at that.

Everything went fine with the upgrade except that it deleted the files needed for the feature to go back to windows 7. The game seemed the same, but the benchmark scored lower. I'll be going back to 7 because 10 doesn't seem done yet and missing some features. I can't pin to start menu, windows open wherever they want instead of the last place I had them, and I had to turn off about 20 privacy options because Microsoft wants to know all of your business now. There are some other issues, but as a whole win 10 is just "meh".

yeah i have had none of those issues windows 10 feels just as fast as 8.1 did if not faster

Anyone that has a GTX 970, have you experienced any graphics driver crashes? Seems like it'll only crash if FF and chrome is on at the same time.
