LOL its like reading a pray to god by a 5 year old.

Ok... And if we discovered another planet in a solar system, and if you believe in deities, would you be angry that the new people look the same but they call themselves different names? lol Just saying. And tbh, if this had of BEEN more XI related, release may not have sucked as much because they would have built OFF OF rather than retooling everything and hosing it up. Again, my pov. They should never have 'fixed' what wasn't broken.
If anything, I'm more miffed at the whole copy/paste of XIV to XI. The city areas look similar, the ideology of each city is similar to XI and the areas themselves are very XI like. For a game to have been in development for several years to have THOSE aspects the same is weak.

XI - Tons of content even at release.
XI - Very defined jobs, playerbase perceptions hurts some job placement though because as with all MMOs, if it doesn't auto kill mobs it's not worth having around.
XI - Tons of consistent story
XI - Very, Very fluid interface even though it's designed as a classic Final Fantasy style, aka menu driven if you don't make macros.
XI - Very good balance between crafted and dropped gear, though as of late a lot of gear is NM based.
And so on
XIV - Still need a lot of work.
Even though FFXI is about 10 years old, they took a very bad design choice to throw out everything XI did instead of building off of it. The main choice was a serverside interface, which hinders absolutely everything in this game and was the cause of many, many problems.
XIV was only in development for 2 years, 3 max. It was very obvious in 2007 when they shifted focus from XI to XIV.Ok... Having been in the industry for many years, I'm sure Yoshi and his team have experience with all types of fans. Stoneskin

These cities look nothing like XI lol....Ok... I didn't say the LOOKED like them but they do lore wise and over all esthetic ARE the same. Windy = woodys, Bastok = Sand desert mountains, Jueno = sea based towering.
So Windy = Grid, Jeuno = LL and Ul'Dah = Bastok. If you can't see that sir, you're blind. LOL You could even say LL is 'similar' to Sandy but that's pushing it imo.
Not sure where you get your info from but those of us like myself started seeing sparks of this back before the actual mention of XIV. Please see below and do a little research before you tell me what 'facts' you have. I don't base my facts off of nothing.Just because you're a mod on a XIV website does not make you better than others.
"Final Fantasy XIV, previously codenamed Rapture (ラプチャー, Rapuchā?),[21] was first mentioned in August 2005, when Square Enix announced they had begun working on a new MMORPG, but neither confirmed nor denied that it was a sequel to Final Fantasy XI, or that it was Final Fantasy-related.[22] Hiromichi Tanaka, producer of the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, stated in April 2006 that developers were working to make Rapture a worldwide release for the PlayStation 3 and Windows Vista,[23] before announcing in February 2007 that the game was being developed for Xbox 360 and Windows PC, and that it could be brought to the PlayStation 3 at some stage as well."

Those of us who actually played FFXI literally felt the sting of XIV's development between 2007 and 2009. That's all the proof you need.
XIV was in concept stages in 2005 (announcement of a new MMO), but development didn't really ramp up until 2007, which was very obvious given how long it took them to complete the WoTG expansion pack (4 years), compared to every other expansion which took 1 1/2 years max. It's not because the game was dying or anything of the sort, it's because they were focusing on FFXIV.
Given that both games had the same lead team originally, including Tanaka, it was very obvious when XIV went into heavy production.

So what is your point in disagreeing with me? You're not posing one your just taking from your personal experience. I also played XI for 4 years and didn't quit until Sept. 09 What I stated was that for a game to have been in development, meaning from concept to beta, they had ALL those years and all they could come up with was what they gave us. I'm not sure why you're choosing this battle but you should reconsider since your point is moot. Definition of moot incase you're not familiar with the word. Those of us who actually played FFXI literally felt the sting of XIV's development between 2007 and 2009. That's all the proof you need.
