Thread: "Old Skewl" parsing

Who here is a fast counter? People don't believe it when I tell them that, with a little observation and arithmetic, "manually" parsing isn't too hard. I tested myself against someone I know who has a parser, and I have a deviance of +- 5 dps. I cheat a little by rounding to two sig digits.

Do any of y'all have fun adding and dividing in their head?
My fellow math nerds get in here.

Haha the most I ever did was subconsciously do math problems in my head when running on the treadmill.

I guess I never really gave this a try since I'm always healing, never DPSing.

How do you manage to count the dot damage that only appears on screen but not in an actual log :O?

I can do up to 3 additions per second in my head, as long as the numbers are only 2 sig figures long. The red(DoT) numbers stay up long enough for me to see them.

I mean I can only see my direct attacks and i can see garudas attack mixed in with everyone else's. But i can't see my dot damage. Or well I suspect one of those numbers I see (thers like constantly 10 different numbers up) is my dot damage, one of them must be my shadow flare damage, one of them is garudas, and one of them is my direct spells. And then the rest of the dps and tanks and other dots.

Honestly how do you know what numbers are your dots?

The orange number is your attack. The blue numbers are your allies numbers. The red numbers are YOUR DoTs.
