    Any plans of adding Arena based PvP?

    Been looking forward to what SE was gonna put in the game with terms of "awarding, structured PvP" I was really hoping it would be arenas. Hear me out, I would love to see vamped up arena maps with 2V2, 3V3, 5V5 for PvP with whatever we can que with. Double dps comps would be great for example or healer dps comps, I know we have 5V5 but it follows the tank, healer, 3 dps combos which is not great. What I would love to see in the future would be:

    - PvP ladders (rating)
    - Arena PvP gear (gives more morale, stats, higher ilvl etc)
    - Arena PvP maps with some gimmicks
    - Skirmish type PvP (bring friends in to try out your groups but not lose rating)

    I know people will say "WoW did this it's not original" but this game is lacking in arena PvP and it's something I really miss in an MMO aside from world PvP. These are only suggestions I know not everyone likes PvP or wants it, but for the ones that do, like myself I would love to see these additions. Thank you.

    Ladders would be nice and so would less people in BGS, but wolf whatever it is arena.

    Also the grind to lvl pvp is one of the worst systems for ranked pvp. I prefer ranked over grind, but idk some people like it i guess.

    Edit to save posts: I would like 3v3 uncapped and huttsball was the best pvp to come out of swtor

    Edit 2: But without quetime fixes the whole grind out lvl for pvp just sucks to be blunt. It does not particularly balance pvp even at max level, and is a grind for the sake of grind since it is not trying to slow down progression with content patches. The whole system needs to be changed or fixed and we really need smaller pvp then 72

    Agreed it's not the best system and could use some work, I feel having arenas would alleviate this grind by doing your arenas instead. Wolfs den isn't the best arena as it follows the holy trinity group with having a tank dps and healer instead of what you really want in a PvP 5v5. I just wish there were ladders as another option to get better gear while grinding out the other PvP gear in the same week.

    Hahaha yes xD Star Wars had some really good interesting PvP including Huttball I did ALOT of PvP in that game.

    All we really need is some well-done Wolves Den revamp.
    With and without ilvl cap, working morale and materias ofc. Need to add more levels to each PvP skill and leaderboards ofc with some cool rewards for achieving some leaderboard ranks.
    Also need special leaderboard for solo queue.

    Eeeeh... Maybe if classes were balanced around abilities that did completely different things in Arena this would work. I know when Blizzard implemented Arena it took off into a meta game in ways they didn't anticipate and they've been struggling ever since.

    As for the biggest mistake? There's a lot of them that I think, were ... they just "fell out" of things. One example: I wish the servers were more stable when we launched, of course - there's a lot of that sort of thing. We have a lot of excuses for that - we didn't expect nearly the response - but we can't say it wasn't a mistake. If I was going to pick on a game design thing that I look back on and think was a mistake? We really never designed WoW to be a competitive e-sports game; it was something that we decided to start tackling because there was such a desire and demand to evolve it in that direction, to introduce competitive arenas. I'm not sure that that was the right thing to do with the game.

    We didn't engineer the game and classes and balance around it, we just added it on, so it continues to be very difficult to balance. Is WoW a PvE cooperative game, or a competitive PvP game? There's constant pressure on the class balance team, there's pressure on the game itself, and a lot of times players who don't PvP don't understand why their classes are changing. I don't think we ever foresaw how much tuning and tweaking we'd have to do to balance it in that direction. Either I'd go back in time to before WoW ever shipped and change the rules to make the basic game more conductive for being an e-sport, or if not that, just say it doesn't make sense. Right now, WoW has a bit of a schizophrenic philosophy behind it, and we're trying to figure out how to guide it.

    It's tricky, now that we've gone down that road, because we have a passionate, large audience that enjoys it - the Arena, the e-sport - so we can't just chop off that head. We can't just say, "We fouled up and will go back to how it used to be before," because we have a really passionate audience that wants it in the game.

    If I could go back in time before we shipped WoW, I would have either made serious changes to basic class balance to facilitate that type of play, or if I went back to when we had the idea two years later, I would have said, "Maybe we shouldn't go there."

    I'm not at all into PvP and I wouldn't want to deny PvPers their fun but if laddered Arenas were put in it would have to be very carefully. Above quote is from 2009 and, no, Blizzard still has never figured out a solution to this problem.

    Valid criticisms for sure, and I agree WoW's isn't balanced by any means I don't believe that this would be balanced either. I just wish there was an option I would LOVE to do arenas and have fun with my friends and make teams and strats. It's just a big piece that's missing for me that could be like "hey I did my eso cap, raids, etc now I can push for arena ratings". It'd create more longevity in the PvP system and community. I would love SE to at least balance as much as they could and test it carefully instead of just throwing it in all wishy washy making classes way to overpowered.

    Arena would be nice, but I feel like there would be solid metas on what is considered a good setup, and you'll be forced into that meta if you want to join a team. Or you'll be doing it with friends, and likely wont win against that meta, since it's the meta for a reason.

    For example, I can see a meta right now being Astro/Warrior/Summoner only. Deathflare destroys Drk's (Insta kills them through walking dead, which is probably a bug) and just about everyone in general. Warriors are as OP as it gets with double/triple Fell Cleaves, Holmgang, self healing for sustainability through healer CC's, and just their all around high survivability in any situation. And then Astros are just the ultimate run and gun healer, and are the hardest healer to take down at the moment.

    Problem is, is these things will likely stay, excluding the death flare with walking dead thing. SE doesn't seem to have much of a focus on PvP to keep it balanced the way a ranked Arena or ladder match setup would require. Though it'd be cool if they were there.

    During the big live letter just before HW release, it was mentioned that a Wolf's Den ranking system would be implemented in the future, sometime during HW. Please look forward to it.
