They have never stated this. They said they will "consider" them. Nothing else was ever concrete. People really need to go back and reread the interviews.

Since this is a discussion page as well, what do y'all think about the quality of the relic we will get? Mainly, the item level.

I'm very curious about this. Since the Esoterics weapon upgraded and the savage raid weapon are both i210, I think this leaves the potential for them to make the Relic weapon the strongest weapon in the game (our i215).

They were not released at the same time of what the current high tier raid was.. So no.. In other words.. When they finally decide to drop the relic quests.. The current Alexander savage weapons will be obsolete and whatever the new item level for the next raid will still be higher than the relic weapon.

^ that. The Nexus was equal to High Allagan weapon for about a month. Zodiac Zeta's had a potential of like 11 (?) more secondary points than any respective dreadwyrm weapon as long as they weren't specced into 3 secondaries, so they could actually be better then the current high tier raid at the time. But moreover, the rules you state weren't here at the beginning of the game. It was changed literally because only the most hardcore raiders even cared about BCoB. Relic +1 was exact same item level. I just wonder what caused them to go away from this. When I saw the savage weapon wasn't i215, the only thing I could think of to even rationalize it was that the relic in 3.1 was going to be the direction SE takes for the strongest weapon. The relic weapons were the strongest in FFXI right? This wouldn't be new territory...
