I appreciate you being a reasonable person Jeri. However there has been post on reddit for guides. dare I say it.. Mister Happy made one too. There has been youtubers, and streamers discussing strategies etc. The general consensus comes from the elite crowd bashing astrologian because they are not a whm/sch and not wanting to put the time into working witha new class and isntead bring what is more comfortable for them in a sch/whm that saw signifcant buffs in this expansion as is. THey were already good. this expansion made them better. Astro needs work, we all know that. But the issue here is, they are not incapable of doing current content. and that is what is being thrown around. People who are not familar with it, have not played it. Base their opinions on that one god awful astro they had in a PF/DF beleive me there are lots..

There are lots of bad sch and whm too. Or tanks etc. The issue is people are quick to blame the astro for EVERYTHING eveyr wipe, every flaw, they like to blame the reason progression teams fail is because an astro is in the party, and not because of group synergy. That is the injustice we are fighting to stop.

Have we considered trying to teach instead?

Teaching is a two-way street. They need to want to learn how to improve their understanding of the class and accept the fact that what they're doing is wrong/inefficient and learn from it. A lot of people would rather blindly enter dungeons/raids after being carried for so long only to be kicked from group and left scratching their heads or upset that the higher tier players don't want them.

I know I bug the living hell out of my static group looking for ways to improve my AST healing whether it be positioning or card priorities/talking out scenarios or even just my healing output in general. AST is a newer job and a lot of people don't understand how complex it can get. Instead they try to force a square block into a round hole. It just doesn't gel when you try to play it exactly like a WHM or SCH.

I can't count how many times I've run into a WHM and healed circles around them in just regular Alex in nearly equivalent gear. Using a newer class as a scapegoat because it's not something people are comfortable with is wrong. I've had groups try to blame wipes (non savage even) on me as an AST just because I was playing that class and 'too busy playing with cards to heal' when in fact dps was standing in avoidable attacks and tank was just plain refusing to do mechanics/use cooldowns.

It's easy to point the finger away from ourselves and at someone else. I don't see that changing any time soon until AST becomes too powerful and people cry nerf.

Yay, more AST apologists :P AST needs buffing to bring it up to par with WHM and SCH, simple as that. It is a fun class, and a good player can use it to clear all current content, but that doesn't mean it isn't in serious need of some help.
