Hard to make any real judgement without hearing the full tracks but it's sounding good.

More like one of them replaces mistbeard cove, since that track fits thanalan far better than it does the cove. Personal preference really. It's also unlikely to be replaced by any of the new trAcks because none of the new ones sound like a area theme; they're all quite situational.
Funny how you say that. Most of the initial melodies were composed by Uematsu san. They've just been arranges to fit the context of the source, except for two which are direct compositions from Uematsu-san.

Zahark music is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBWrC8hwy40 arranged.
Cobols music seems http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBWrC8hwy40.
Seems that the most except first chocobo are arrangements to fit "well" in the game.
If someone has to take over the music composing must be Naoshi Mizuta.

Wow talking about grasping at straws there is a big difference between a different arrangement and a completely different composition.Zahark music is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBWrC8hwy40 arranged.

I love these samples!! 8) <3

So I've listened to the sampler a few times(and not having the morning groggy) and feel like I should redact my earlier statement. I'd still like to listen to the full versions naturally(as do we all), but I think they all sound pretty decent, even though a lot of them sound event-related.
If Zahar'ak and O'ghomoro are in there, then I'm pretty sure Shopshae and Natalan are as well, which means some of those tracks are going to be their battle themes. I think the Company chocobo theme is nice, but it's definitely fitting with the theme of Company Warfare. Doesn't feel all that "personal" to me. Highlights for me would be O'ghomoro(no I'm not using that heretic spelling) and Zahar'ak, and I love how it's essentially a play on another battle theme.
thats some pretty cool / epic stuff
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
Yeah...it seemed Mizuta was trying to keep stuff in the "Uematsu-style" for XI, whereas this composer seems to realize that the music in this game isn't Uematsu's greatest work (even though it is a damn sight better than most video game music today) and is composing in a style he/she thinks is appropriate to the game rather than the previous music.
I find it interesting that there's an outcry against the different art style of the Ifrit weapons, but no one seems to mind the change in musical style.

LOVE IT!!!
