Yes yes yes we need this with very hard monsters and random treasure drops.
But thing is how do you monitor this kind of thing and balance it so it doesn't become a zerg thing where every one and their mother and 2nd cousin expect you to wait and so bots don't or make it hard to abuse.
I suppose they could make a whole new treasure hunt system where your given a ability to find treasure chests so that only you and your party benefit from it that takes care of the zergs they could add some hard NM sure that would drop something like a chest key randomly but again zergs.... Maybe put in a few instances like they did with the zones during release but the whole bot thing IV no idea.
But this is something we really need.
Unfortunately, they modeled this game off of the rapid leveling linear style of games such as World of Warcraft, so they aren't very likely to introduce open world dungeons. For an open world dungeon experience we will have to wait for a differently designed game or jump into an older title. Personally, I like the older level grind style of games better than the gear grinding style games of this last decade, mostly because with level grind you knew that once you hit a certain point the world would open up more and you could go to these new, previously inaccessible areas. That's actually quite a bit different from "out-leveling" zones and moving to the next designated area, which is what FFXIV does. Plus all the grind is gear grind at end game, really. That or craft grind.
Once again.. yall want the game to be like FFXI, but you don't want to play FFXI and that poor game can use some love right now.
Personally I would love for a FFXI-2 or such. Still is such a change from everything else but with how long it has been out and with my several attempts it just felt like I was playing a one player game even after a few months. However as for the suggestion I am all for anything to mix it up.
Mostly because the designers of that game did a lot of things right. I still remember the downsides of the old FFXI, but in some ways the pros outweighed the cons.
They can add pop items that you must farm from different things to spawn the NM. I actually wish they would bring the BCNM's from FFXI over. Those were always fun. You get BCNM seals from monsters you kill and after you get so many you can buy entrance into a 3 to 8 man fights will cool loots.

Too bad this would only turn out to become the zergfest number 3, so it just won't work and would't be fun.
Players are blinded to the reality of that. Even when it stares them in the face with hunts. Put desirable items in there and half the server will be zerging it just like hunts. Don't put desirable items in there and they will be wasted content.
Well we got Beastmen Strongholds and FATES that pop in those strongholds already
