Keep in mind as well that most NA/EU players of FFXI got 3 of those expansions at launch.

So in that same timescale in XI, you have Sky, Sea, Limbus, Dynamis, Salvage, Besieged, Assault, relics, mythics, campaign, 5 different storylines + nation storylines. 75 level cap with at least 6 different ways of gearing with deep stats.

So what I want is something that has been asked, what I want is deep stats, to not feel like my log ins are just "must do daily, must cap tomestones, must get one loot drop for the week." I want several ways to make my character different to others.

Evidently thats not the direction that this game is taking, and thats fine if you are happy with that. This thread is just expressing the opinion that I do not think its for me, but I think they would be on to a real winner if they explored those ways.
1) 2.0 is a completely different game than 1.0. You don't just get to arbitrarily choose the timeline comparison because you played 1.0 in addition to 2.0. It was a reboot.

2) So from an accurate comparison PoV, Heavensward is still before Rise of the Zilart. At that point the only thing they had was Dynamis.

3) What you're doing is comparing content added over YEARS of development for FFXI to a game that is barely 2 years old.

More content will come, and they will eventually hit a level cap they want to stay with for awhile (it may even be 60). And at that point you'll get a lot more horizontal progression. But I also think it's quite disingenuous of you to claim that there aren't a lot of options.
