Well,

a Gridanian 1.0 player would still have met the real Yda technically, given that the 1.0 Gridanian storyline, like all the 1.0 starting city stories, were mostly in the Echo - the player didn't realize it at the time but the events that surrounded them weren't actually happening to them, they were actually experiencing events that happened 10 years previously (how the Echo was depicted was different to ARR - it was virtually indistinguishable from 'real life', and those experiencing an Echo vision could actually interact with others within it, it was virtually a waking dream, unlike the grainy, sepia toned, washed out, non-interactive video feed that the Echo is depicted as in ARR), meaning Yda most definitely was still alive at the time those scenes actually occurred, at least in those scenes (the 1.0 starting city stories showed the Archon for that area first arriving in Eorzea under Louisoix's directive).

Ironically the player later meets up with the Archons at the end of the completed 1.0 'Path of the Twelve' story which was the then 'present day' where they save them from being possibly killed by Gaius, so it's highly likely 'Yda''s appearance then was actually Lyse in disguise, but whether SE actually had that planned at that stage is unclear (Yda's mannerisms, and Papalymo's too, for that matter, were rather.... odd... almost to the point of the uncanny valley... so... maybe it was Lyse even then.). Meaning Yda's death would have still been rather recent.

Either way, it's rather depressing to look back and think that only 1.0 Gridanian players ever actually got the chance to see the

real Yda and not her little-sister-wearing-her-shoes,

even if was only through the Echo.

So, in the Doman Enclave, they mention its been a year since Doma was destroyed by the Garleans, given that this happened after 2.0, around the same time as Gaius' death, does this mean we're out of the bubble?

See the other thread. This is contradicted by things said by other NPCs throughout the expansion, whose time references would seem to place us within the same year as ARR still.

(I stand by my explanation: it hasn't LITERALLY been a year, just near enough to one that people who aren't obsessively tracking it with a calendar feel comfortable using the word. Something like 9-10 months, which is more than enough time for the events that have occurred to have happened within).
