Gear Progression Continues to Make Little Sense

I am really starting to wonder if item levels and item level requirements are simply aspects that the developers randomly choose here as they don't seem to follow any sort of logic.

Why is Esoteric gear rated at ilevel 200 when Alexander Hard items are ilevel 190? They create a set of dungeons that have an ilevel 145 requirement then push out i200 rewards while the create a i170 required raid then set the rewards as i190? I really need to understand the logic in this because it makes little sense to me.

Esoteric gear should be rated at i190 and upgradable to i210. Alexander Prototype gear should be either i190 or even boosted to i200. This would create a logic gear progression path rather than creating an entire set of completely redundant i190 gear that is about to be replaced within the next couple of weeks while also following some actual logic in ilevel requirements rewards.

I would agree, if the prices of the gear were lowered to the same level as "Law" prices.

Aka, cut in half and more.

Alexander normal gear helps gearing alts, and acts as filler gear, or an alternative in general depending on your stat priority, to the esoteric gear.

You can get more alex normal gear than you can get Esoteric gear within a week. It's not meant to be equal.

Why? This is the dumbest thing ever. Why are specific gearsets being created purely for secondary jobs? Again I question the logic in this as it makes no sense.

Absolutely. This is another glaring issue. Locking class specific gear behind higher requirements and weekly caps again makes no sense especially with three new jobs added.

Alexander Normal isn't hard. It's essentially a mini CT and meant for those who complained that Coil was too hard to do for the story. i190 gear is just a carrot for those not interested in story to progress their characters in preparation for Savage. Esoterics gear are meant to be side options for your main job and for that "Class" feel. Also, I wish people would stop saying i190 will be invalidated, as you would still be using those i190 pieces both for farming Esoterics (and alongside them as you gear up to prevent progress drought) and gearing your other jobs that share said gear when you acquire Job-specific ones for your main until you can clear Savage consistently. At which point, you replace i190 shared gear with i210 shared gear.

Why do you need i200 gear to farm i145 dungeons? All you are really telling me here is how the current system works. Thank you, but I was able to figure that out myself.

It doesn't mean that it makes logical sense. Gear progression is actually a very simple concept. You collect lower level gear until you can take on harder content (as expressed by required iLevel) to get even better gear. But this game seems to follow this maybe half the time and then we get silly explanations like "oh that gear is actually meant for your secondary classes."

This just straight up poor, illogical design.

Didn't seem like you were able to figure it out on your own, as it's fairly apparent you're blinded by rage. You don't NEED to get i200 gear to farm Esoterics or Alex Normal. You do need them to do Savage. Unless you're willing to wait months to even start Savage, i190 in Normal is actually logical. Now, if you want to suggest Law gear should have been 190, Alex Normal should have been 180, sure, that would have been better. But then no one would do Alex Normal aside from the lore buffs that want the full story.

But that was what people were asking for, the ability to see the story reward of the raid without putting in the effort asked of them during Coil. Surely people weren't telling untrue stories on the internet in order to get pretty shinies that look like they're from difficult content but are actually handed to them just for clicking that "Join" button.

edit: agree with your point op.

would at least leave a gap for the 24 man raid gear.

    It makes perfect sense, OP.

Law exists for gearing up for Alex Normal and EX fights
Eso exists for those that want better gear for Alex Savage or simply for vanity/easier everything else (EX fights, etc).
Alex Normal gear exists as the inbetween that can help fill out your gear while you're doing A.Savage or collecting Eso gear.
