Big Damn Tank moments!

After seeing the horror story threads around, I want a place for tanks to share their stories for when they stood strong and said 'Damn I love being a tank!' Despite tanking myself I haven't had a moment like that but have had consistent job well done moments but nothing stand out.

Back when Turn 4 was new, my static struggled to clear it for weeks. My main was WAR and still is. One night we finally managed to get to the last dread. I was tanking the last set of Knights/Soldiers while everyone went ham on the final Dread. Shit hits the fan and people start dying left and right, I was the last man standing, the dread was at 2% HP. Popped Holmgang, Berserk, and used back-to-back Inner beasts. Won by the skin on our teeth. Damn it feels good to be a WAR.

That feeling you get when the healer dies due to mechanics and you pop Living Dead/Hallowed Ground giving the party just enough time to finish the boss.

After every clear. I only really have one stand out moment, been told many times, sometimes I get a thumbs up, sometimes I been told I'm just sub-par and it really wasn't my tanking that got me through, but yeah. I LOVE BEING A TANK!! Here's to those who wish us well, and to those who don't can go to..............

I'm sure there've been a thousand moments where I stood tall in the eyes of my parties.

Moments where it was time time to step up and show evil what time it was.

But in the end, it was just typical day for a working class tank.

any time my stoic saves us for long enough to get a win. first time clearing cad, ads, and turn 4 were like this.

there were plenty of oh shit moments too where i was quick enough to take the bosses attention and let us recover (a ravana EX learning party was the latest example, missed the timing on a blinding blade, killing the main tank. voked ravana before he could do any more damage and tanked the rest of the time until he hit enrage.)

Yesterday I did Battle at the Big Keep for my daily Trial. Everything went fine until the second set of dragon heads. None of the Dps went after them because they were trying to burn Gil. Dragon heads detonate and Gil does one of his full room AoEs. When the smoke clears the other tank and I are the only ones standing. We knock Gil's last 2% off before the rest of the party respawns. All I could say was "Tanks for the win?"

Was running through the Vault for xp on PLD. Second boss, dude that knocks you back and creates the black death holes. One DPS down to mechanics, we are at 20%, Healer rezzes, and second dps goes down, boss at 13%. I start thinking to myself. hmmm. First DPS goes down again followed shortly by the healer. They are all just laying there...boss is at 7%. Well I pop CD's and get some free time with his push back moves for a clemency/Stoneskin/Sheltron. He comes at me SS goes away, I pop HG and dance around him like a kid on hippy flips at a rave in the mountains. Boom, i has 120HP and he has none.

I came out awesome. They get up and we press on. Just another day in the life of a Lady Tower by the name of Synestr Ashbringer!

For me was Twintania back when it was progression on my Pld we got her to 2% and people were dieing to twisters right and left. Eventually it was just myself left and a healer the healer put an Aero up and then died, popped Hallowed Ground and dps'd the boss down I was at 70% Hp. Hallowed Goes down Sentinel and then a Rampart for Death Sentence, everyone screaming on TS3 while i'm down to 13% and then killed him with Rage of Halone. Was our first clear and our biggest crowning achievement and of course no tank stuff drops T_T.

Clearing Garuda EX as MT for the first time. I still consider that the biggest tank fight to date, with so much to do, dodging double slipstreams, manging Spiny, marking, etc. (though now mt can just get carried). The first time I saved the party with a tank LB was particularly epic.

Then there's solo tanking Titan EX the first time. Pick up both adds, put them in place (bring Titan with me), pop Hallowed Ground to eat a bomb, Mountain Buster and 3 landslides. 2 adds die stacked perfectly and I move Titan back into place.

I T5 a lot for people, so quite a few misc. epic plays.
