Bot and Min retainers not returning HQ items on high level ventures

Is there a problem with the normal botany and mining ventures? My ACN retainer usually returns at least 1 HQ item, sometimes more. But other than the 18 hour ventures, my Bot and Min retainers fail to return any HQ items on the level 51 through 60 ventures. Another in our static group has commented on the same. Anyone else seeing this?

How much gathering does your retainer have? Maybe needs to be higher. Mine returned some HQ mats

Both are over 400 Gathering, ventures take minimum of 388. I am sort of afraid that I will have to give them perception to be able to get at least the 1% just like my character bot/miner. Can anyone verify this?

mine used to not give me any HQ items until i upgraded their gear. now i'm getting about 1-2 HQ cedar logs per venture.

Well, I put the HW quest main and off hand tools on both, I will put a couple of pieces of HW gear on each and see how that fares. So, basically, HW gear on retainers to get HW HQ items?

I recall reading that "Perception does, in fact, effect the chance of retainers bringing back HQ items", long, long ago. Given that I've done nearly 100 lvl 58+ ventures on my MIN retainer and gotten not a single HQ item, where as others I know who have geared similar retainers have, I'd say it's likely true.

I recall reading that too. As such, I get some hq items on the lowest level hw gather stuff, but the topmost item I can get with them yet as I just barely pass the gathering score for it doesn't give any hq. I assume that when I update rest of their gear to match, giving them also reasonable perception score, I'll start seeing hhq for them too. That makes me wonder if there's invisible perception wall for the hq items, as there is the visible one to be able to get them at all.

After putting a couple of pieces of HW gear on my bot, I did get a couple of HQ cedar logs. Still leveling my LTW, so I can upgrade their gear as I go. I just didn't want to have to use my materia on retainer gear to get enough perception. Thanks for all the replies.

My retainer is still wearing hand me downs from a couple levels ago so 1/20 mythril sands will be HQ and not much else above that. So I'm actually having to mine those daily GC turn-ins myself, sucks.

All my DoL retainers tend to bring back HQ most of the time so not sure why yours are not and mine are just wearing NPC bought gear. I have 4 DoL retainers and yesterday for example 2 brought back HQ items, 1 brought back a big game fish and the other brought back a fat cat minion.
