Dosen't take much to cap for a week. Log on and do one Expert. Don't even need to do it every day of the week. And then after the expert, go around and find some other fun inside the game to do. Hunts, Treasure Hunts, Work on an Airship or other group construction with friends.
Weekly limit is to stagger raid progression. Makes sense given the powerful DPS checks out now in Savage Alexander.
i restrict it as an insult to people being complete an utter dick to someone trying to learn something.
on topic the only thing that should change is that your eso cap should have a spill-over from previous weeks...with a limit. for instance you would only get a chance at the tomes you couldn't get last week, so if you weren't able to get any last week your cap would temporarily be 900 tomes. if you hit 450+ that week no spillover to the next.
so it would be like:
capped first week
wasn't able to play for half of second week, only got 250 tomes
third week gets an extra 200 tomes you can acquire from what you missed. hit 500 tomes this week.
normal cap fourth week because you got 450+ last week.
Tome gear is not the definition of welfare gear in this game, as you might have noticed, although that might be the case in other games. FFXIV treats tome gear differently. It can often be BIS. Heck, there were pieces of WOD gear that were BIS. Placing large tome prices on items is a sufficient enough stagger system. The player base doesn't need a three-month cooling off period to make SE feel warm and fuzzy about how long content stays relevant or the discrepancy between frequent and infrequent players. Oh, and maybe some perceive this as whining, but at least I'm making a point rather than typing a one-sentence response that adds no value except to be spiteful. I'd bet you could keep your mouth shut the rest of your life and the world wouldn't suffer for it.
SE would have to increase the tome prizes on the gear high enough that not even hardcore players can get more than 2 gears in a week.
I don't like the weekly cap either, however if the caps go away it will only widen the elite / casual player base even more.
I actually like the weekly cap. Maybe the amount I can get per week could be increased a bit. But for a player who avidly plays AND has to go to work, it means I don't have to play 24/7 just to keep up with players with more free time on their hands.
