Time to Rethink Duration of Weekly Cap, and Here's Why

I have come to terms with the weekly tome cap, sort of. With 3.0 we were given Law tomes with no cap, so that's endgame baseline, akin to Darklight gear as it was reintroduced in 2.0. While I don't exactly agree with hijacking other players' game time and that time's potential to mitigate the discrepancy between 'casuals' and 'hardcore', I can also read the writing on the wall: the weekly cap isn't going anywhere soon.

The cap lasts too long considering Legacy and 2.0 players are in the same boat for the first time, a few max jobs, wanting some of that Artifact gear we've been drooling over for the better part of a year. Cap tomes for a month. If you aren't capping tomes weekly, it's obviously not high on your priority list, and so what is the argument for forcing players who are eager to advance more quickly to play at the pace of players who frankly aren't as interested as them? You're a helicopter parent, SE. Time to let your ducklings sink or swim.

The purpose is to stagger gear acquisition... SE doesn't want their raids finished in a week (not going to name anything particular here).

EDIT: Or are you suggesting they make all the gear ugly so no one wants them for glamour? Not sure what side of the fence you are on.

It's been like that for 2 years and won't change anything soon.

    I don't get the whining.

They could make it like a rollover period so latecomers arent left behind..
Each week you are given an allowance, if you use it or not good for you..

    +450
    +450
    +450

I get to 60 now so i can get 1350 tomes and be on par with everyone else instead of needing to wait 4 weeks to get the caps.

So you want SE to implement welfare?

If I am not mistaken aren't the tomes you earn currently not carried over week to week? What I would like is them to actually make them stay. I sometimes can't get enough tomes to get what I want in 1 week and like to take my time. But I also don't want to be left behind just because of that. I am not saying give me my tomes or anything like that other person is. Just saying let me keep what I earned.

Just doing EX Roulette once a day for 7 days will cap you. If you can't spare 4~ Hours a week to doing EX Roulettes, maybe MMOs just aren't a genre that gels with your life.
Hell, even just running an Alex Floor Farm (generally 4 runs) will net you 40 Esoterics, and if you manage a 4x Farm on all 4 floors, that's one third of your weekly cap right there.

The cap exists to limit the speed at which we obtain the better ilvl gear outside of raids. Tome gear is quite literally the definition of welfare for those who dont/cant Raid.
For those that do Raid, Tome gear is a great filler piece while waiting for your Drops, or in some cases providing alternative stat options at the same ilvl.

TL;DR, nothing wrong with the weekly cap.

No, they carry over. You can only get 450 Esoteric tomes a week, with a total of 2000, once you cap 2000 you wont earn anymore, you just have to spend them to start getting tomes again. The Law tomes are uncapped, you can farm 2000 a week if you wanted to.

Or as others have suggested make the Tome Cap per job and only allow said job to buy gear for that job.

    I think it's timed perfectly.
Doing Expert and Trial roulettes even people like me, who CAN'T play every day (you know, work, friends, just general things one could call having a LIFE), are able cap.
Having a higher cap, or a shorter reset period (technically both boil down to the same) would make people gear up too fast - content would get overgeared and thus easy and close to worthless too fast, and people with a life would be left behind in the dust.

Stop being elitists and find some other things to do outside of playing this game.
