    The one consistent critic on Heavensward is "too much like ARR"? srsly?

    As per title... what the actual F?

    Like... I really don't get what kind of complaint is that. Heavensward is an expansion to an already established game. Did you guys expect what, a jump thesize of the one form FFXI to FFXIV 1.0? or 1.0 to 2.0?

    Every MMO in existance launches expansions that, are, in a nutshell, some tweaks in gameplay, and the addition of new maps, quests, storylines, dungeons and aybe a new class/race, and perhaps a new gimmick or 2. Nobody ever complains about them saying "it's too much like the original game". Well OF COURSE IT IS, it's not a new game, it's the same game with added content.

    Sometimes ppl seem like they strive REAL HARD to complain about something... Really, I do not understand where this is coming from.

    Maybe I just don't trawl general discussion often enough, but the first time I've seen this specific alleged criticism is your post. Most criticisms I see are about the Heavensward-specific job changes/adjustments, the red scrip system, and customization options or lack thereof in specific cases.

    I don't think anyone wanted a 'new game' I think people wanted something more exciting than to literally do the same sh!t we did back in 2.0.
    Literally, doing the same things we did in 2.0, same patterns and all. It's not all that fun.
    Right now, I give HW a 7/10. The new jobs are kinda meh and they still didn't fix housing...we have an FC ship thing and A LOT of FC's don't have a house. They're waiting too long to fix jobs that people keep saying major issues.
    You don't need a damn Savage mode to tell you that jobs are messed up. Bards incredibly unhappy, DRK's waiting on tweaks forever, AST's are pretty much hated end-game,
    MCH kinda sucks, crafters are screwed up the behind, no one wants to PvP because of stupid GC restrictions again.
    Running 2 dungeons, over and over and over again like we did in 2.0. Primals...locked behind PF bleh, a raid, and a EX raid...
    The only thing I really enjoyed in 3.0 rather 2.0 was the storyline. Not a fan on the dungeons, except the Gubal place. Then again, I never played an MMO with expansions and all like this before so
    I guess this is how it goes. I know this is just the beginning...of course there will be more things and stuff to do but I'd hope
    there's something to really go "Oh wow!" about. It's just the beginning but I already sense the same lame pattern we did in 2.0. If this continues, then I hope 4.0
    does something really amazing. I'm not liking how predictable this is going.

    Most player already have a lot to deal with with the new abilities - especially if you play more than one class/job.

    Not to mention, no doubt SE would prefer to try out new stuff in smaller patches rather than in the upfront part of the expansion - they are already rushing for time to get the the relatively huge expansion out.

    I have to agree with the critics here, aside from flying and making the zones bigger, what new feature have we realy seen in HW? I love HW and I have enjoyed the story. But aside from the new classes, new skills and lenght of the storyline, to me this feels more like a patch then a expansion.

    That's precisely the point. An expansion makes the game bigger, nothing else.

    But I'm also going to have to agree with the critics that there isn't really much different my main problem is again instrd of making a big fun raid they again separated it into sections because of duty finder I'm tired of every sort of group content being a one path dungeon run or just a room with a boss and I'm beginning to think that duty finder will be the death of this game. And I'm also going to have to agree with others that the gear progression is awfull look at it once we hit 60 the item level for stuff jumped from 170-210 that's 50 item levels in just under a month. And again I see the reason to this is because of duty finder there's no gear choice besides us tanks since we need to use strength gear as well as vitality and nothing unique this was a chance for them to go a different way and if it didn't work so what they could have adjusted it to go bk to the same way.

    And again duty finder....... It has to be balanced enough so that any job combination can clear it we need bigger better more complicated dungeons that are not a straight path to the final boss.

    Open world content. Boring there isn't really any and for those who are going to say hunts are good open world content stop fooling your selves their zerg fests they die with in a min and the big linkshells that orginizes them just run around day after day not fun for me but to each their own.

    Also Yoshi p said that there'd be not one or 3 but many new dungeons in the expansion I don't really consider the new leveling dungeons to be all that new since we don't have a reason to go back to them unless wer leveling something and only 2 expert dungeons at level 60. its not like we can do the new dungeons unscynced so they could at lest put tomestones in the new level 51-59 dungeons if the persons in them as a level 60 job.

    Don't get me wrong I like the game but I still feel that their playing it too safe I can't blame 1.0 hurt SE very badly so I can't blame them playing safe but the fact that we have a expansion means the game is doing well I agree but they could have taken risks with the dungeons and open world content.

    I'm completely fine with them sticking to the same formula, since I never found it broken or boring.

    The interesting parts are how things work within the pattern. Interesting battles, animations, story, new skills.
    That's all they need to keep fresh for me.

    I only wish Stats were more interesting and more customizable (just minor focus builds, like a crit or SS build etc).
    Customization on the same gear, mind you. Not hording different sets.

    Honestly, they've added a lot but the gear treadmill has the same pattern.
    Except for Alexander Normal. But I'm happy they're not changing it, because I've seen games go through phases.
    Sometimes I'm interested, sometimes I'm not, because it's a different game at times.

    I've always liked FF's formula and I've been happy with what gets added on to it.
    So the consistency is a plus for me.

    I think people have just been spoiled by the patches we receive every < 3 months; if flying, larger zones, lv increase + new abilities, SM Alexander in just 3.0X alone is not enough then I don't know what is

    This^^ i mean if ppl are still unhappy they are prob playing the wrong game. The fact this game is still pay to play after a year tells us it's doing well go look at all the others that try and die and then go free to play :P SE keep up the good work^^
