Seriously it makes so little sense how the Archbiship was all "I can't reveal the history, Ishgard can't handle the truth!" and when all is said and done people seem to be fairly "Oh? Okay." about a whole life shattering reveal like that.
Considering the peasants were treated like crap by the people high up in the church, they're probably happy because those jerks are no longer around. Meaning they have the chance to be happy without fear of being prosecuted for no reason.
