    The Inquisition? [SPOILER]

WARNING: This is a spoiler discussion.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

So anyone else expect the Inquisition to start playing some role in 3.X era MSQ?

They have been mysteriously absent throughout 3.0 despite how well known and influential the Inquisition is within Ishgard.

    SPOILER
The only real Ishgardian threats we faced with being called a heretic is from the Heavensward but they're dead now.

beyond that I surprised how little involved the Inquisition was in 3.0.

However, considering Ishgard is most likely going to face changes in 3.X era I'm guess we may see the Inquisition serve as a Political Antagonist of the Ishgard section of the storyline since they may not be so keen on the Truth and losing their power over Ishagrd.

The Inquisition were entirely connected to the Church, and, given the player kind of destroys it's power base (exposing both the lies the Church was built on, the rampant corruption within the organization itself, and that.. whole thing with the Archbishop and the Heavens Ward...), the Inquisition technically no longer exists in any meaningful form.

They were also well known for working in secret so again it's pretty obvious why apart from that kangaroo court that Alphinaud and Tataru were caught up in (and some lore padding that started the DRK quests off), that the player has actually little contact with them.

Also, despite the truth being revealed the Church has not falling yet. While scholars of Ishgard are struggling to revise their history currently after 3.0 due to the Truth being revealed there are still some loyal to the church and the old beliefs as was mentioned at the end of 3.0 on how Ishgard can't be changed over a day but by generations and other Side storyline quests

I won't lie, I was kind of excited at the thought of seeing my character go through what FF8's Squall went through after he got captured. Maybe we'll get a Solid Snake scene where the torturer tells us to click the button to resist. With their actual voice.

    Too bad it didn't happen.

One of my biggest issues with 3.0 was the lack of a whole reactionary Ishgardian group after the grand reveal, so dealing with them throughout 3.x wouldn't be so bad. Seriously it makes so little sense how the Archbiship was all "I can't reveal the history, Ishgard can't handle the truth!" and when all is said and done people seem to be fairly "Oh? Okay." about a whole life shattering reveal like that.

Is this a joke or a insult?

A lot of things happened in 3.0 that should have caused the Inquisition to appear (either by minor role or some small mention in dialogues) due to the WoL actions from bring Ysayle into Ishgard and letting her just walk away, being targeted by the Heavensward countless times, Talking to Dragons (which is punishable by death), assaulting the Vault to arrest the Archbishop, revealing that Midy (the Father of all Dragons in FF14 World) has been following the WoL for a while, and etc.

If anyone else done these things the Inquisition would have been on them like a swarm of angry bees as countless NPCs mentioned throughout FF14 storyline.

Considering the peasants were treated like crap by the people high up in the church, they're probably happy because those jerks are no longer around. Meaning they have the chance to be happy without fear of being prosecuted for no reason.

I mean, I dunno about that. Like, no one really seemed to care until Francel was accused in Central Coerthas, I'm thinking a lot of lower class Ishgardians have a whole "Well, I can't believe Dave is a heretic! I thought he was always a nice guy. Good thing I'm a good member of the Church and would never be accused of heresy." I mean, it has been the main and only system of faith in Ishgard for the past 1000 years. You see plenty of foot soldiers (Lots of which come from the lower class) and random citizens either actively supporting the persecution of heretics (Or "heretics") via agreement or participating in it ( eg Soldiers helping hunt down and kill heretics) or just silently accepting it all. It's a game of witch hunting and dogma that's been going on for a very long time, I find it particularly odd that the lower class (Which iirc, have a little church of Halone sitting right in the Brume) would just all be like "Good ridden!" Like that was one of the main reason the Archbishop was all "Nope, no one knows the truth."

Can you blame them for supporting the persecution of heretics given what they'd been told for the last millennium, and the fact some were insane enough to turn themselves into dragons?
