So with leves they tend to become useless when you have your jobs leveled, only serving as a means of minimal gil and minimal reward with no huge influence over how useful the gains are compared to doing other content.
So while Temple leves have been added as a means to allow players to use up wasted leves for a slight increase in xp gains for those who are short on time why not introduce a system that uses leves as a way to personally hunt for materials?
While we have retainers that bring back a pitiful amount of materials for the time it takes it would help if maybe for 5 leve charges we had the ability to go on instanced "hunts" of specific targets maybe where the cost is based on the "rarity" of the target that could fluctuate daily.
Maybe we could consider it an ecosystem wherein the population of a target is determined randomly and based on that the cost and quantity of the target as well as duration are altered.
Let's use Yak's for an example.
There could be 3 variations of the hunt, Scarce, Normal, Bountiful. With those three variables you could choose between 3 time allowances per leve, 5 min, 10 min, 15 mins. Then based on those 2 variables the leve cost would be decided.
So let's say Scarce=1, Normal=3 and Bountiful=5 then time would add 1-2-3 respectively.
The idea would be to give players a choice of how long they wish to hunt for and then on top of that system you could add random events that occur during the leves and maybe even ways to influence which materials drop off the creatures.
But basically the endgame of the idea is this
Scarce=2-4 leves used
Normal=4-6 used
Bountiful=6-8 used
On a normal Hunt a player could use up to a days worth of leves to attempt a 15 min hunt of a target, I feel this wouldn't hurt the market for those items rather it would place these items on an equal acquisition rate compared to botanist/miner/fishing items without having to add a 4th type of DOL to the game.
